New Advocate General Sworn In at European Court of Justice
Stéphanie Laulhé Shaelou took the oath as Advocate General at the Court of Justice of the European Union on 13 July 2026, following her appointment for the period running to 6 October 2027. The appointment was announced in the Official Journal on 20 August 2026.

EU Court Rules Hungary Violated EU Values Restricting LGBT Rights
The Court of Justice of the European Union ruled on 21 April 2026 that Hungary breached EU law and its founding values by restricting sexual education and media content related to LGBT identity under a 2021 child-protection law. The judgment, published on 17 August 2026 in the Official Journal of the European Union, found violations of multiple directives and the Charter of Fundamental Rights.

El Tribunal de la UE dictamina que Hungría violó los valores de la UE al restringir los derechos LGBT
El Tribunal de Justicia de la Unión Europea dictaminó el 21 de abril de 2026 que Hungría vulneró el Derecho de la UE y sus valores fundacionales al restringir la educación sexual y los contenidos mediáticos relacionados con la identidad LGBT en virtud de una ley de protección de la infancia de 2021. La sentencia, publicada el 17 de agosto de 2026 en el Diario Oficial de la Unión Europea, constató infracciones de múltiples directivas y de la Carta de los Derechos Fundamentales.
