The Territorial Services of the Department of Enterprise and Work in Girona have registered and ordered the publication of the collective agreement of the company Diari de Girona, S.A. for the years 2026-2028, with agreement code no. 17001212011997. The resolution, signed by the director of territorial services, Pau Rich Sanglas, is dated September 17, 2026, and was published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Girona no. 185, of September 25, 2026 (reference BOP-2026_0_185_8196). The text establishes the labor conditions for the newspaper’s entire staff for three years.

The agreement was signed on July 31, 2026, by the company representatives and the representatives of the workers, acting as the works council. The registration was carried out in the Registry of collective agreements, collective labor agreements, and equality plans of the Territorial Services of Girona, in accordance with articles 90.2 and 90.3 of the Workers’ Statute and Royal Decree 713/2010, regarding the registration and deposit of agreements.

The published text spans 24 pages and is structured into twelve chapters, two annexes, and one preliminary provision. The temporal scope covers from January 1, 2026, to December 31, 2028, regardless of the publication date, and provides for year-by-year extension if neither party terminates it with fifteen days’ notice.

36-hour workday and six professional groups

The agreement establishes a working day of 36 hours per week and a paid break of 20 minutes for staff on a continuous shift. The schedule will be agreed upon between management and the works council through a chart that must be prepared before February 28 of each year.

The text regulates remote work on a voluntary and reversible basis, with the general possibility of working one day a week if the workplace allows it and the department agrees. Holidays are 22 working days and staff enjoy 17 working days in compensation for the 14 payable public holidays, the so-called “xupetines” (bridge days).

Other social improvements included:

Annex II incorporates an action protocol for disasters and adverse meteorological phenomena, which is activated following warnings from AEMET and Civil Protection and provides for paid leave, flexibility of the working day, and priority for teleworking in the event of a red level warning.

The agreement covers the entire workforce of Diari de Girona, S.A., the head of the Prensa Ibérica Media group in the district, and establishes a stable three-year framework for working hours, salaries, and social rights. Its registration in the official registry makes it an applicable norm and consultable by any worker or interested party.
