The City Council of L’Ametlla de Mar has approved the bases governing the call for six local police officer positions, as career civil servants, through a free-turn competitive examination, and the simultaneous creation of a replacement pool to temporarily cover absences and substitutions. The agreement was reached by the Local Governing Board on October 22, 2026, and the announcement is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Tarragona on November 2, 2026, with the reference CVE 2026-10097. The deadline for submitting applications is 20 business days starting from the day after the publication of the call in the Official Gazette of the Generalitat de Catalunya.

The positions are integrated into the special administration scale, special services sub-scale, local police class, group C, subgroup C1, and are included in the city council’s Public Employment Offer for the year 2026, approved by the Local Governing Board on October 8, 2026, and published in the DOGC no. 9775, of October 19, 2026, and in the BOPT no. 9468, of October 15, 2026. The functions to be developed are those provided for in Law 16/1991, of July 10, on local police, and the process is governed by Decree 233/2002, of September 25, on access, promotion, and mobility of local police.

Six full-time positions and 25% reservation for women

  • Regime: career civil servant, organic assignment to the local police.
  • Position title: local police officer, basic scale, subgroup C1.
  • Number of positions called: 6, full-time.
  • Selection modality: free competitive examination.
  • Reservation: 25% of the positions for women, in accordance with article 61 of Royal Legislative Decree 5/2015 and the eighth additional provision of Law 16/1991, since more than three are being called.

  • Spanish nationality and a high school diploma (batxillerat), technical degree, or equivalent or higher.
  • To have reached 18 years of age and not be at the age of compulsory retirement.
  • Minimum height of 1.50 meters for women and 1.65 meters for men.
  • Driver’s license B and a Catalan language certificate of intermediate level (B2) or higher.
  • No criminal record and not be disqualified from public occupations or positions.
  • Express commitment to carry weapons and payment of the examination fee.

Applications are addressed to the mayor’s office and can be submitted at the general registry of the Citizen Service Office, Monday to Friday from 8:30 to 14:00 hours, or through the municipal electronic registry, with a digital signature. The full rules are published on the electronic headquarters notice board, at www.ametllamar.cat. Job seekers who meet the income requirements and have not rejected job offers are exempt from paying the fee.

Eight exercises in the competitive examination and fourteen merit points

The competitive phase evaluates a maximum of 45 points and consists of eight exercises, all of which are mandatory and eliminatory:

  • Knowledge of the Catalan language, graded as fit or unfit.
  • Cultural test: 50-question test, up to 5 points and a minimum of 2.5.
  • Theoretical test on the syllabus of Annex 1: 50 questions, up to 10 points and a minimum of 5.
  • Physical fitness, with a mandatory medical certificate, up to 10 points and a minimum of 5.
  • Aptitude tests and personality and competency test with an interview.
  • Topic to be developed, up to 20 points and a minimum of 10.
  • Final medical examination, to verify the causes for exclusion in Annex 4.

The merit phase adds a maximum of 14 points: professional experience in the local police and other bodies, training from the Police School of Catalonia, C1 and C2 levels of Catalan, university degrees, rewards and distinctions, foreign languages, and ACTIC certifications. The qualifying tribunal is composed of one-third officials from the corporation, one-third specialized technicians, and one-third proposed by the Department of Interior and Public Safety, with the presence of the Public Security Institute of Catalonia and the General Directorate for the Coordination of Local Policies; its designation is published at least 15 days before the tests. The order of action begins with the initial surname “O”, according to Resolution PRE/1020/2023.

A dynamic pool with two years of validity

Applicants who pass the process without obtaining a position will enter the replacement pool in order of score, with a validity of two years. The pool operates dynamically: whoever rejects a first offer moves to the last place, and whoever rejects a second is excluded, except for justified causes assessed by human resources. Before appointment, the selected person must pass the medical and psychotechnical examination within a maximum period of 15 days. Those who obtain a position must complete the basic training course of the Public Security Institute of Catalonia and a six-month internship period in the municipality.

The call for applications comes after the approval of the 2026 public employment offer and reinforces the staff of a body that until now covered urgent needs with interim personnel. For candidates, it opens a stable access route to six permanent civil servant positions; for the municipality, the existence of an ordered pool allows for a faster response to vacancies, retirements, and temporary leaves. The rules end the administrative route and can be appealed for reversal before the Local Governing Board within one month or before the contentious-administrative court within two months. The announcement is signed by the general secretary, María Ángel Benedicto Esclarín.
