Evaluation criteria and limits
Applications are evaluated according to article 14 of the order: literary interest of the proposal (maximum 40 points), difficulty of the translation (10), the publisher’s catalog (20), and the professional trajectory of the translator (30). The minimum score to obtain aid is 50 points.
The fixed price per page is 25 euros in cases of special difficulty and between 12 and 20 euros for the rest, up to 100% of the translation cost. The maximum amount per work is 6,000 euros, except for translations of works with more than 600,000 characters, which may reach 10,000 euros. The amount is divided into 45% in the first year (2026) and 55% in the second (2027).
Among the required requirements are that the work belongs to narrative, poetry, essay, scientific dissemination, comic, theater, or children’s and youth literature; that it is the first translation or that more than 20 years have passed since the last one; that the publisher holds the publishing rights; and that the translation is published as of January 1, 2026. Each publisher could submit a maximum of 15 works, and no more than five grants are awarded per publisher to projects with the same translator.
Excluded projects and appeals
Annex II lists two projects without aid:
- Sobrevives?, by Hohe Publisher, due to withdrawal for failing to amend the requirement made according to article 12 of the order.
- A parte fácil, by Mateus Oliveira Melo (imprint Laika Ediçoes), for not reaching the minimum score by obtaining 46 points.
The resolution exhausts the administrative route. An optional appeal for reversal may be filed before the same body that issued it within one month from the day following publication, or a contentious-administrative appeal before the Contentious-Administrative Chamber of the High Court of Justice of Galicia within two months, in accordance with Law 29/1998, of July 13.
The publication of this resolution serves as notification and conditions the effectiveness of the grants upon their acceptance by the beneficiary entities. For the Galician publishing sector, it represents a new leap in the external projection of books in Galician, with Textus Associazione Culturale as the main recipient (31,280 euros in six projects) and the presence of foreign imprints in Germany and Italy.
