Por FactBox Admin

The Director of the Territorial Services of the Department of Enterprise and Labor in Tarragona, Maria del Mar Giné Servén, resolved on October 20, 2026, the registration and publication of the Collective Labor Agreement for the Iron and Steel Industries sector of the province of Tarragona for the years 2026-2027. The resolution is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Tarragona on October 29, 2026, with the reference CVE 2026-09802 and the agreement code 43000405011993. The text signed by the parties is incorporated in full, including the salary tables for both fiscal years.
The agreement reached the registry after Álvaro Urzaiz López presented, on behalf of the negotiating commission, the text signed on October 5. The registration is framed within Article 90 of the Workers’ Statute and Royal Decree 713/2010, regarding the registration and deposit of agreements, and is issued under the authority of Decree 162/2026, of September 8, on the restructuring of the Department of Enterprise and Labor.
Who signs and who is bound
The agreement has two well-defined sides:
- Business representation: APEMTA (Provincial Association of Metal Entrepreneurs of Tarragona) and ASTAVE (Business Association of Repair Shop Entrepreneurs and Automotive Sellers).
- Union representation: the Federation of Workers’ Commissions of Industry of Catalonia (CCOO) and the Federation of Industry, Construction, and Agro of UGT of Catalonia (UGT-FICA).
The scope is provincial and mandatory for all metal companies in Tarragona. The wording includes metallurgy and steelmaking, automotive and components, shipbuilding, aerospace industry, railway material, renewable energy components, robotics and automation, telecommunications, engineering and industrial maintenance, as well as drones, jewelry, locksmithing, and precision mechanics. Companies exclusively dedicated to the commercialization of products are excluded.
Salaries: two 4% increases and CPI review
The chapter on salary conditions sets an increase of 4% on all concepts of the tables for 2026 and another 4% for 2027. An automatic review clause is added: if the sum of the actual CPI for the two years exceeds 8%, the 2028 tables will be updated with the differential on January 1, 2028, without retroactive effects. If the CPI of each fiscal year exceeds 4%, a non-consolidatable payment with the differences will be paid in March of the following year.
The resulting amounts for the extreme categories of the table are:
- Group 1, engineers and higher degree holders: 2,222.53 euros monthly in 2026 (31,115.42 euros annually in 14 payments) and 2,311.43 euros in 2027 (32,360.04 annually).
- Group 6, specialist or assistant: 1,514.04 euros monthly in 2026 and 1,574.60 in 2027.
- Group 7, laborer: 1,482.23 euros monthly in 2026 and 1,541.52 in 2027.
The night shift premium of 25% over the agreement salary, the two extraordinary bonuses —one month’s actual salary, with maximum dates of June 29 and December 15— and the seniority bonuses (cuatrienis) are maintained. Companies must pay the arrears within the month following publication in the official bulletin.
Working day, vacations and governance of the agreement
The annual working day is set at 1,744 hours in 2026 and decreases to 1,736 hours starting January 1, 2027, eight hours less. The snack break in a continuous workday does not count as effective work. Vacations are 30 calendar days, starting on a non-holiday Monday between June 15 and September 15, and can be split into two periods; for dealerships and car repair shops, July and August are excluded, except for 33% of the staff on a rotating shift.
The agreement creates a joint commission with a presidency, two members for UGT, two for CCOO, and four for APEMTA, with deadlines of 30 days for the ordinary procedure and 7 and 5 days for specific ones. If no agreement is reached, the parties may appeal to the Labor Court of Catalonia. The text also allows companies with proven losses to not apply the salary increase, with written notification within 20 days, and regulates a sectoral equality delegate, equality plans for staff of more than 50 people, and a compensation of 1.50 euros per day of teleworking.
The validity extends from January 1, 2026, to December 31, 2027, with tacit renewal if no party denounces the agreement one month in advance. The relevance for the reader is direct: the text deploys increases and conditions for a sector that employs thousands of workers in the province and, with the publication in the bulletin, opens the period for companies to apply the tables and pay the arrears.
