Paraguay Investment Agreement effective Sept 26 via MFA Notice No. 295

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that the Agreement between Japan and the Republic of Paraguay for the Promotion and Protection of Investment (Treaty No. 6 of 2026) will enter into force on September 26, 2026. This was published in the Official Gazette on September 25, 2026, as Ministry of Foreign Affairs Notice No. 295, and was announced in the name of Minister of State Hiyayuki Fujii, acting on behalf of the Minister for Foreign Affairs.

According to the notice, Japan notified the completion of the domestic procedures required for the entry into force of the Agreement on June 30, 2026, and the Republic of Paraguay received this notification on the same day. The Republic of Paraguay similarly notified the completion of its domestic procedures, which Japan received on August 27, 2026. In accordance with the provisions of Article 28(1) of the Agreement, it shall enter into force on September 26, 2026.
