Por FactBox Admin

首都高速道路、料金の額及び徴収期間を10月8日付で変更公告

Shutoko Company Limited announced in the Official Gazette dated October 7, 2026 (Public Notices/Miscellaneous Matters of Special Corporations, etc.), that a portion of the “Toll Amounts and Collection Periods for the Metropolitan Expressway” announced on September 30, 2026, will be changed effective October 8, 2026. The notice was issued in the name of President and Representative Director Yoshiyuki Aoki, based on Article 25, Paragraph 1 of the Special Measures Law for Road Improvement (Act No. 7 of 1956). The main pillars of the change are the addition of descriptions regarding ETC and the replacement of dates mentioned in the original notice.

Framework of Public Notices Based on the Special Measures Law for Road Improvement

Article 25, Paragraph 1 of the Special Measures Law for Road Improvement is a provision requiring road companies to determine and publicly announce toll amounts and collection periods; this document constitutes a “Revised Public Notice” that replaces a portion of previously announced content. The original notice was dated September 30, 2026, and the revised notice is dated October 7, 2026, with the effect taking place the following day, October 8, 2026.

Details of the Changed Items

The notice lists several items under the “Notes” section, each taking the form of replacing existing descriptions with new ones.

  • In Note [8], “October 1, 2026” is changed to “October 8, 2026.”
  • In Attachment 2, “Metropolitan Expressway Route 3 Shibuya” is changed to “Metropolitan Expressway Route 3 Shibuya (ETC).”
  • In Attachment 2, “Kanagawa Prefectural Expressway Bayshore Route, Metropolitan Expressway Bayshore Route, and Chiba Prefectural Expressway Bayshore Route West” is changed to a description adding “(ETC)” to the end.
  • In Attachment 3, “West (limited to entrances proceeding toward Urayasu)” is changed to “West (ETC) (limited to entrances proceeding toward Urayasu).”

Significance of Specifying ETC Classifications

The common thread in these changes is the addition of the “(ETC)” classification to the target routes and entrances. For Shibuya on Metropolitan Expressway Route 3, the West section of the Bayshore Route, and the West entrance limited to those proceeding toward Urayasu, the toll application categories are being reorganized on the premise of ETC usage. Additionally, the date of October 1 mentioned in the original notice is replaced with October 8, aligning it with the enforcement date of the revised notice.

Impact on Users in the Tokyo Metropolitan Area

The targets are arterial roads in the Tokyo area, including the Metropolitan Expressway, Kanagawa Prefectural Expressway Bayshore Route, Metropolitan Expressway Bayshore Route, and Chiba Prefectural Expressway Bayshore Route; the Shibuya, West, and Urayasu-bound entrances are sections used on a daily basis. Due to the explicit specification of ETC classifications, drivers using these locations need to confirm their travel routes and payment methods, keeping in mind that the toll application conditions are based on ETC. As the changes apply from October 8, it is advisable to verify the details by the previous day.
