EU widens sheep and goat pox restricted zones in Romania
The European Commission extended the emergency restricted zones in Romania after five new sheep and goat pox outbreaks in Constanța, Tulcea, Vâlcea and Gorj, tightening movement controls for ovine and caprine holdings.

EU widens sheep pox containment zones across Romania and Bulgaria
The European Commission has expanded the emergency protection, surveillance and further restricted zones for sheep pox and goat pox in Romania and Bulgaria after new outbreaks in Iași, Haskovo, Plovdiv, Blagoevgrad and Stara Zagora. The measures were adopted on 10 August 2026 and published in the Official Journal of the European Union on 13 August 2026.
