Vigo appoints eight career firefighters to reinforce the SPEIS service
Por FactBox Admin

The local Governing Board of the Vigo City Council agreed, in the session of October 23, 2026, to the appointment as career civil servants of eight firefighters from the Fire Prevention, Extinction and Rescue Service (SPEIS). The agreement is published in the Official Gazette of Galicia (DOG) no. 207, of October 29, 2026, in section VI, heading B) Local Administration, on page 54360 (CVE-DOG: herqtly0-o9p1-dxh9-xtu3-hsp8xt1km9t8).
The positions are framed within the C2 qualification group, Special Administration scale, special services subscale, fire extinction class, and are part of the public employment offers (OEP) of the years 2020, 2021, and 2022. The filling of these positions is carried out through the free quota, after the applicants proved the requirements demanded in the bases of the call, in the applicable regulations, and in the internal criteria of the SPEIS regarding integration into the workplace.
The official announcement is signed by the mayor’s office and endorsed by two councilwomen by delegation: María Olga Alonso Suárez, delegated councilwoman for Linguistic Normalization, Education, Human Resources and Training, and Patricia Rodríguez Calviño, councilwoman for the Government Area of Security, Contracting, Festivals and Municipal Management. The delegations correspond to the Mayor’s Resolution of 28.6.2024 and the Mayor’s Resolution of 25.9.2025, the latter completed by the Agreement of the local Governing Board of 7.11.2025.
Eight of the twenty-three announced positions
The local Governing Board appointed career civil servants to occupy eight of the twenty-three firefighter positions included in those three public employment offers. According to the text of the announcement, the agreement adopts as a framework the bases of the selection process, the current public service legislation, and the internal criteria of the municipal fire extinction service.
The appointment is for definitive access to the status of career civil servant once the selection process has been passed. The publication in the regional bulletin fulfills the duty of publicity established in the bases of the call itself and in the public service regulations.
The appointed persons
The announcement identifies the eight new civil servants, indicating their national identity document partially hidden, as is customary for data protection:
- S. Trillo Curra
- A. Álvarez Fernández
- Y. Lorenzo Boullosa
- J. Andrés Posada Conde
- D. Rodríguez Baptista
- A. Molares Sequeiros
- P. Calvo García
- E. Zamora Ramírez
One month to take office
The interested persons must take office within one month from the publication of the appointment in the Official Gazette of Galicia. The announcement warns that, in the event of failure to do so, they will be declared in a ceased situation and, consequently, will forfeit their right.
The taking of office is the administrative step that consolidates the effective incorporation into the position and activates the obligations and rights inherent to the status of a career civil servant.
Reinforcement also in the Local Police
In the same session on October 23, 2026, the local Governing Board also agreed upon eight appointments of career civil service personnel in the Local Police, basic scale, subgroup C1, charged to the positions of the 2024 public employment offer. That other announcement occupies page 54361 of the same issue of the DOG (CVE-DOG: 7i8pntp1-i1f6-gwm4-5kj6-ltlzbvrzk6s6).
The two decisions share the same signature and publicity criteria, and they enroll the reinforcement of the municipal security and emergency bodies within the same administrative movement.
The incorporation of these eight firefighters represents a direct reinforcement of the city’s fire prevention and extinction system, an emergency service whose operational dimension affects the entire neighborhood. The agreement partially resolves a block of twenty-three firefighter positions corresponding to three consecutive employment offers, which measures both the personnel stabilization effort and the path that still remains to be covered in that call.
