The Utebo City Council (Zaragoza) has announced its Public Employment Offer for the 2026 fiscal year, approved by agreement of the Local Government Board on September 29, 2026, and published via resolution on October 1. The announcement appears in the Official Gazette of Aragon number 207, dated October 26, 2026, in section II (Authorities and Personnel), under the competitive examinations and contests section, with the official reference BOA20261026017. The offer totals eight vacancies divided between career civil servants and contractual staff.
Regulatory framework and approving body
The publication responds to the mandate of Article 70 of the revised text of the Law of the Basic Statute of the Public Employee and the obligation to publicize vacant positions within municipal staff. In this case, the agreement corresponds to the Local Government Board of the Utebo City Council, a corporation with territorial code number 50272 in the province of Zaragoza, which approved the offer on September 29, 2026.
The resolution publicizing the agreement is dated October 1, 2026, and bears the signature of the mayor, M.ª Jesús Sariñena Anchelergues. The offer refers exclusively to the 2026 fiscal year and details, position by position, the classification group and the number of vacancies for each category.
Eight positions: two administrative assistants and one local police officer
The largest block of the offer corresponds to the General Administration Scale, with two administrative assistant positions in group C2, the category that draws the interest of a large portion of candidates in the Zaragoza region. Added to these are the positions for the Special Administration Scale, which includes one local police officer.
The detail of the vacancies for career civil servants is as follows:
- General Administration Scale, Assistant sub-scale: 2 administrative assistant positions, group C2.
- Special Administration Scale, Special Services sub-scale, Local Police class: 1 local police position, group C1.
- Special Administration Scale, Special Services sub-scale, Trade Personnel class: 2 maintenance manager positions, group C2.
- Special Administration Scale, Special Services sub-scale, Trade Personnel class: 1 maintenance laborer position, group AP.
In addition to these six civil servant positions, there are two contractual staff positions, both in group 2: one for Preschool Director and another for Adult Educator. With these, the offer reaches eight vacancies.
Calls already underway and deadlines for applicants
The job offer is the preliminary step to the calls for selective tests, which are processed separately. In fact, the same bulletin issue includes, under reference BOA20261026016, the resolution of the Utebo City Council making public the rules to fill two maintenance worker positions through an open competitive examination process, in this case corresponding to the 2025 offer.
Those rules establish conditions that are expected to be repeated in the remaining processes:
- Application submission period of twenty business days from the day following the publication of the call announcement in the Official State Gazette.
- Submission of applications via the city council’s General Electronic Registry or through the channels established in article 16.4 of Law 39/2015.
- Examination fee of 9.20 euros, with an exemption for long-term job seekers whose family income does not exceed 27,241.20 euros.
- Selection system by competitive examination, with a non-eliminatory merit phase and an examination phase.
Impact for candidates in the region
The call arrives at a time of strong competition for administrative positions in the Zaragoza area, where Utebo, with more than 18,000 inhabitants, is one of the municipalities with the highest selective activity. The two administrative assistant positions and the local police position are expected to concentrate the most applications, while the four maintenance and two labor positions expand the scope to profiles with basic qualifications or specific training. Interested parties must follow the publication of the announcement for each call in the Official State Gazette, as that is the milestone that triggers the application deadline countdown.
