Sarria announces three public employment positions, one of them for local police

The Sarria City Council has approved its public employment offer with three open-access positions, one of which is for local police. The decision was adopted by resolution of the Mayor’s Office dated September 29, 2026, through decree no. 2026-1503, and is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Lugo no. 226, of October 2, 2026, with reference R. 2631. The positions are offered for the year 2026.

The announcement is published under the heading Public Employment Offer 2025 and details the positions corresponding to the 2026 financial year. The approval is made in compliance with Article 91 of Law 7/1985, of April 2, regulating the bases of the local regime, and Article 70 of the recast text of the Law of the Basic Statute of the Public Employee, approved by Legislative Royal Decree 5/2015, of October 30. The resolution is signed by the mayor, Claudio Melquiades Garrido Martínez, and exhausts the administrative route.

Three open-access positions

The offer distributes the three positions among career civil servant personnel, all via open access:

• Two positions for administrative assistant, group C, subgroup C2, General Administration scale, which will be filled through the competition-examination system.
• One position for local police, group C, subgroup C1, Special Administration scale, Special Services subscale, which will be filled through the examination system.

The total number of positions to be offered is three, as stated in the table published in the announcement.

Selection system and interest for candidates

The local police position is of the greatest interest to applicants in the region, as it is a category with infrequent selection processes in the surrounding councils. The offer does not yet develop the bases or the deadlines for submitting applications, which will be established in the corresponding calls.

The Sarria City Council maintains other selection processes active. On August 28, 2026, it approved, through decree 2026-1360, the bases for the selection of a multiple services assistant as an interim civil servant for 6.5 months, charged to the 2026 Provincial Council Cooperation Plan with Councils. On August 3, 2026, through decree 2026-1247, it called for the technical IT assistant position included in the 2023 employment offer.

Appeals against the resolution

Against the resolution, which exhausts the administrative route, the following are possible:

• Optional appeal for reversal before the mayor, within one month from the day following the publication of the announcement.
• Contentious-administrative appeal before the Contentious-Administrative Court of Lugo, within two months, or before the court corresponding to the interested person’s domicile.

If the appeal for reversal is chosen, the contentious-administrative appeal cannot be filed until the former is expressly resolved or is dismissed by silence.

The call for applications arrives in a context of intense selective activity in the province. The Monforte de Lemos City Council published on September 30, 2026, in BOP no. 224, the definitive list of persons admitted and excluded from the process for four local police officers, basic scale, group C1.

The offer from Sarria opens the door to new additions to the local administration of the region and allows local police aspirants to apply for an open-access position without the need to travel outside the province. The publication in the official bulletin is only the first step: the rules and specific application deadlines will arrive in the calls that the City Council approves in the coming months.
