O Concello da Coruña convoca dez prazas de bombeiro por quenda libre

The City Council of A Coruña announces an open call for ten firefighter positions in subgroup C1, of the Special Administration scale, special services subscale (C.E. 8/26). The call and the specific rules are published in the Official Gazette of the Province of A Coruña no. 207, dated October 29, 2026, with official reference 2026/6942, by resolution of the delegated councilor responsible for Economy and Strategic Planning, José Manuel Lage Tuñas, issued on October 22, 2026, by delegation of the Local Government Board.

The process already has approved rules, and only the publication of the summary of the call in the Official State Gazette remains pending, which marks the start of the application period. The positions are included in the public employment offers for the years 2024, 2025, and 2026, and the specific rules are complementary to the general selection procedure approved on April 12, 2023 (BOP no. 73, dated April 18, 2023).

Distribution of positions and selection system

The ten positions are distributed as follows among the last three public employment offers:

  • 2024 OEP (BOP no. 71, dated 11/04/2024): 2 open access positions.
  • 2025 OEP (BOP no. 81, dated 30/04/2025): 3 open access positions.
  • 2026 OEP (BOP no. 115, dated 19/06/2026): 5 open access positions.

The selection system is by competitive examination (oposición). The specific requirements, in addition to the general ones, are to possess or be in a position to obtain a high school diploma (bacharel) or technical degree, or equivalent, and to hold driving licenses for categories C, D, and E. These conditions must be met on the day the application deadline ends and maintained until appointment.

Twenty business days to apply via electronic office

Applications are submitted electronically through the A Coruña City Council office (sede.coruna.gal), under the procedure “Participation in selective tests,” completing form 095. The deadline is 20 business days starting from the day following the publication of the summary announcement of the call in the BOE.

  • Examination fee: €14.94, per Fiscal Ordinance no. 1.
  • Exemptions: people with a degree of disability equal to or greater than 33% and registered job seekers for at least 6 months prior to the publication of the call in the BOP.
  • Exemption from the Galician language test: prove Celga 4 or an equivalent approved qualification.
  • Failure to submit the application in a timely and proper manner results in non-admission to the process.

Five eliminatory exercises and medical examination

The examination phase consists of five mandatory and eliminatory exercises, plus a medical examination which is also eliminatory according to the exclusion table in Annex IV:

  • Physical test (Annex I): 3,000-meter flat race, 150-meter swimming and diving course with towing, and a pseudo-tactical circuit; scored from 0 to 3 points and will not be held before one month has passed since publication in the BOP.
  • Theoretical test: test of 100 questions plus 10 reserve questions, 120 minutes, graded from 0 to 7 points with a minimum of 3.50.
  • Practical tests (Annex III): three exercises, including oxy-fuel cutting and anchoring knots, rated as fit or unfit.
  • Psychotechnical aptitude test with intelligence and personality tests and a personal interview, fit or unfit.
  • Knowledge of the Galician language: direct or inverse translation in a maximum of 60 minutes, fit or unfit.

300-hour selective course at the fire station

Those who pass the process will be appointed as civil servants in training and must complete a face-to-face selective course at the A Coruña fire station, with a minimum duration of 300 hours and two months. The program is structured into ten blocks, including pumps, aerial vehicles, high-altitude rescue, extrication, dangerous goods, hose layouts, foams, aquatic rescue, and occupational risk prevention. The taking of office as a career civil servant takes place within a maximum period of one month from the publication of the resolution in the BOP.

The call directly affects candidates preparing for access to fire extinguishing services and also the operational capacity of the Coruña station, which incorporates ten new personnel distributed over three years. The announcement also comes with physical tests with marks differentiated by sex and a detailed medical examination of exclusions, two elements that condition the preparation of the applicants in the coming weeks.
