Las Palmas convoca cinco plazas de inspector de Policía Local

The City Council of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria has announced five vacancies for Local Police Inspector via the internal promotion track and through a competition system, as career civil servants. The call is made public in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands (Boletín Oficial de Canarias) no. 200, dated October 6, 2026, through the announcement of September 18, 2026, which publicizes Resolution no. 32534, of September 17, 2026, from the General Directorate of Human Resources. Access to the category of Inspector of the Executive Scale is carried out exclusively through internal promotion via competition, in accordance with Article 26 of Decree 36/2024, of March 4, which regulates the selection, training, promotion, and mobility of Local Police personnel in the Canary Islands.

Requirements, fee, and application deadline

Career civil servants of the City Council of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria may apply if they can prove at least two years of active service in the category of Local Police Sub-inspector, have not been dismissed through disciplinary proceedings, possess functional capacity, and hold a university diploma or equivalent degree, as well as B and A2 driving licenses.

  • Application period: 20 business days from the day following the publication of the call summary in the Official State Gazette (Boletín Oficial del Estado).
  • Examination fee: 30.00 euros, paid electronically.
  • Submission: municipal electronic office, with identification via Cl@ve, digital certificate, or DNIe.
  • Correction period for the provisional list of admitted and excluded candidates: 10 business days.

Competition, selective course, and internships

The process consists of three mandatory phases and a total maximum score of 10 points. The first is the competition phase, in which the alleged and accredited merits are valued according to the scale: seniority and professional experience up to 3.50 points; official academic qualifications up to 2 points; training courses up to 2.50 points; publications and teaching activity up to 1 point; and official merits and recognitions up to 1 point. In the event of a tie, preference is given to women when a 40% female presence in the employment is not reached.

The second phase is a selective training course, coordinated by the competent regional management center for public security training, with theoretical and practical modules in a blended learning format. The third is the internship phase, consisting of 600 hours of actual effective service, tutored and evaluated with a passing grade. The Selection Board will be collegiate, consisting of a president, a secretary, and four members, and will aim for parity between women and men.

Authorized expenditure and appeals regime

The resolution authorizes the expenditure derived from the call, for the remuneration of the advertised positions and those currently held between October 1 and December 31, 2026, for a total amount of 4,764.05 euros. The act bears the signature of the Director General of Human Resources, María Teresa Rodríguez Sánchez, and the intervention of the chief official, Domingo Arias Rodríguez, upon the proposal of the head of the Selection, Provision, and Training Service, Jorge Puig Palma.

Against the resolution, which is final in the administrative route, an optional appeal for reversal may be filed within one month or a contentious-administrative appeal within two months before the Contentious-Administrative Section of the Court of First Instance of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

The call is of direct interest to the officers of the corps aspiring to promotion to the Executive Scale: five intermediate command vacancies that will be filled without a competitive examination, with the decisive weight of seniority, training, and accredited merits, and with an application period that begins with the publication of the summary in the BOE.
