La UEx aprueba su oferta de empleo público docente con 142 plazas

The University of Extremadura has approved its Public Employment Offer for the year 2026 for Teaching and Research staff, consisting of 110 new entry positions and 32 internal promotion positions. The Resolution of September 18, 2026, of the Management, executes the agreement of the university’s Governing Council and is published in the Official Gazette of Extremadura (DOE) No. 187, of September 28, 2026, with the official reference 2026062409.

Regulatory Framework and Processing

The resolution is issued in compliance with Article 138 of the Statutes of the University of Extremadura, approved by Decree 163/2026, of September 9 (DOE of September 11, 2026). The text invokes Article 70 of Law 7/2007, of April 12, of the Basic Statute of Public Employees, and Article 20 of Law 31/2022, of December 23, of the General State Budgets for 2023, extended for 2026, which sets the replacement rate at a maximum of 120 percent.

It is also based on Organic Law 2/2023, of March 22, of the University System, whose Article 71.2 regulates internal promotion programs, and its eighth transitional provision regarding adaptation mechanisms for certain teaching and research staff figures.

The prior processing included treatment at the Negotiating Table on June 16, 2026, and approval by the Governing Council in the session of June 29, 2026. The resolution is signed in Badajoz by the manager, Juan Francisco Panduro López.

15% Reservation for Researchers with I3 Certification

Within the limit of the replacement rate corresponding to the bodies of University Professors (Catedráticos), University Associate Professors (Profesores Titulares), and contracted doctoral professors, the university is obliged to allocate at least 15 percent of the total positions offered to the incorporation of doctoral research personnel with the I3 certificate obtained within the framework of the Ramón y Cajal Program.

If this reservation is not fully covered, the positions may be offered to other researchers from national or international excellence programs who also hold the I3 certificate, providing a certificate from the Ministry of Universities accrediting compliance with the requirements.

Distribution of Positions by Category

The annex of the offer details the following composition:

  • University Professors (Catedráticos/as): 30 positions via internal promotion.
  • University Professors (Catedráticos/as): 1 position via internal promotion reserved for persons with disabilities.
  • Linked University Professors (Catedráticos/as vinculadas): 1 position via internal promotion.
  • University Associate Professors (Profesores/as Titulares): 89 open competition positions.
  • University Associate Professors (Profesores/as Titulares): positions reserved for persons with disabilities.
  • University Associate Professors (Profesores/as Titulares): 7 open competition positions with I3 evaluation.
  • University Associate Professors (Profesores/as Titulares): 1 position reserved for persons with disabilities and I3 evaluation.
  • Permanent Labor Professors (Profesores/as Permanente Laboral): 8 open competition positions with I3 evaluation.

Calls for applications, examination fees, and publicity

The calls for applications must be agreed upon by the university’s Governing Council and include, at a minimum, the number of positions, the area of knowledge, the department and, where applicable, the university center. They shall guarantee equal opportunities for persons with disabilities and the necessary adaptation measures.

Examination fees shall be those established in Article 47 of the university’s Budgetary Execution Rules for the 2026 Budgets, in accordance with Decree 287/2007, of August 3. Derived calls shall be published in the Official State Gazette (Boletín Oficial del Estado) and/or the Official Gazette of Extremadura (Diario Oficial de Extremadura), and shall be disseminated in the selection processes section of the university website, within the functional area of the Vice-Rectorate for Faculty.

The offer is the instrument through which the administration programs its staffing needs and allows for the convening of selection processes under the principles of equality, merit, capacity, publicity, transparency, and impartiality. For applicants to a university position, it sets the calendar and the volume of available positions at the University of Extremadura during 2026, with a specific route for internal promotion and an increased quota for accredited research careers.
