Por FactBox Admin

The La Oliva City Council has approved the specific bases and the call to fill five positions for fire corporal within the municipal Fire Extinction and Rescue Service. The agreement was adopted by the Local Government Board in a session on October 20, 2026, with certificate number 2026-0461, and the announcement was signed by the mayor-president, Isaí Blanco Marrero, on October 21. The call is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Las Palmas number 128, dated October 26, 2026, with official reference 2160450.
An offer inherited from the 2024 fiscal year
The five positions correspond to the Special Administration scale, Special Services sub-scale, Fire Extinction Service class, categorized in Group C, subgroup C2, and are for career civil servant personnel. They are included in the 2024 Public Employment Offer, approved by Mayor’s Resolution number 0856/2024, dated April 1, 2024, and published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Las Palmas number 42, dated April 5, 2024.
The announcement is disseminated on the same day as two other calls for the same service: five positions for firefighter-driver (reference 2159757) and one position for sergeant (reference 2160491). Together, the municipality is activating eleven positions within the corps in a single day.
Requirements: internal service personnel
The bases reserve the process for personnel who are already part of the municipal staff, although the header of the announcement refers to the open call. Applicants must meet, among other conditions:
- Be a career civil servant and hold a firefighter-driver position within the municipal service.
- Accredit at least two years of effective service in that position by the closing date.
- Be on active duty at the time of the call.
- Possess a Compulsory Secondary Education degree, School Graduate degree, or equivalent.
- Hold class B and C driving licenses.
- Have no criminal record and not be subject to any cause of incompatibility.
Two eliminatory exercises and a 200-hour course
The selection system is a competitive examination (concurso oposición) and is structured into four phases: examination, merit competition, selective training course, and internship period. The examination includes a test of 60 questions plus five reserve questions, with a duration of 80 minutes, and a practical case of 60 minutes; both are mandatory and eliminatory, requiring a minimum of five points out of ten.
The merit phase provides up to six points: three for professional experience, 2.50 for training courses, and 0.50 for academic qualifications. The maximum score for the process is 16 points. Those who pass the competitive examination must complete selective training of 200 hours, preferably at the municipal service facilities.
Twenty business days, 30 euro fee, and two months to appeal
The deadline for submitting applications is twenty business days from the publication of the summary in the Official State Gazette, following the full publication in the Official Gazette of the Province of Las Palmas and in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands. Processing is electronic, via the municipal electronic office, as it concerns public employees.
The examination fee amounts to 30 euros and is paid into the BBVA account of the Corralejo branch with number ES86 0182 5925 8000 0031 1505. Against the call for applications, which exhausts the administrative route, an optional appeal for reversal may be filed within one month, or a contentious-administrative appeal within two months before the Contentious-Administrative Chamber of the High Court of Justice of the Canary Islands.
The call comes at a time of renewal of the body’s command structure, with five new corporals called to assume the coordination of guards and the direction of interventions. For applicants from the municipal staff, the process opens a promotion route reserved for personnel with at least two years of service in the municipality.
