Treasury extends $100,000 bonus for transporters until December
Por FactBox Admin

The Ministry of Finance extended the monthly $100,000 bonus for transporters from six to nine months, meaning the benefit can be claimed until December 2026. The measure was formalized through exempt decree No. 289, signed on October 19, 2026, and published in the Official Gazette No. 44,579 on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, in Section I (CVE 2888778).
The bonus was created by Law No. 21,811, which in its article 3 modified the third transitory article of Law No. 20,378 and established the delivery of a monthly payment of one hundred thousand pesos to owners, mere holders and, where applicable, to the drivers they designate, for a period of six months. The requirements, procedure, and payment deadlines were established in exempt decree No. 113, dated March 31, 2026, from the ministries of Finance and Transport and Telecommunications.
The fundamental change came from Law No. 21,848, published in the Official Gazette on October 17, 2026, which in its article 1 replaced the expression “six months” with “nine months” in the fourth paragraph of the third transitory article of Law No. 20,378. Consequently, according to the decree’s preamble, beneficiaries will be able to access the bonus until December 2026.
Concrete changes to decree No. 113
Exempt decree No. 289 introduces four specific amendments to the 2026 text:
- In article 1, a reference to Law No. 21,848 is added among the regulations supporting the benefit.
- In article 2, numeral 1, regarding the Bonus for transporters, the phrase “and its modifications” is added.
- In article 7, second paragraph, “six months” is replaced by “nine months”.
- In the final paragraph of the same article 7, the phrase “until December 31, 2026” becomes “until March 31, 2027”.
- In the first paragraph of article 10, the date “September 30, 2026” is replaced by “December 31, 2026”.
The sixth preamble of the decree explains the scope: the aim is to extend the granting period of the bonus starting from April 2026 and for the following nine months, as well as the period during which the benefit may be used for the purchase of fuels.
Application, platform, and previous adjustments
The regulation does not start from scratch. Exempt decree No. 118, dated April 9, 2026, had already modified the dates for submitting payrolls and payments in article 11 to facilitate the application process and provide greater flexibility to the procedure. Later, exempt decree No. 134, dated May 4, 2026, provided an exceptional extension to apply for the April bonus, in view of the intermittencies experienced by the application platform during that month, and specified the timeframe in which applications could be made.
The decree further specifies that, in all unmodified aspects, exempt decrees No. 113, No. 118, and No. 134, all from 2026 and of the same origin, remain fully in effect. The regulation was signed by the Minister of Finance, Jorge Antonio Quiroz Castro, and by the Minister of Transport and Telecommunications, Louis de Grange Concha, and transcribed by the Undersecretary of Finance, Sebastián Vallebona Espinosa.
Scope of Law 21.848
Law No. 21.848 is not limited to the transport workers’ bonus: it extends the validity of the bonuses established in Law No. 21.811, grants a bonus to artisanal fishers, and modifies the deadline for making contributions to the Guarantee Fund for Small Entrepreneurs (Fogape). The Finance decree is limited to adapting the regulations of the transport workers’ bonus to this new legal framework.
The adjustment arrives when the original six-month scheme had already expired on its calendar: the application deadline that expired on September 30, 2026, now remains open until December 31, 2026, and the final margin of Article 7 is moved to March 31, 2027. For thousands of owners, holders, and drivers of cargo and passenger vehicles, the extension means three additional months of a monthly contribution of one hundred thousand pesos intended to offset fuel costs.
