Granada announces nine firefighter positions via open competitive examination with a ten-day deadline
Por FactBox Admin

The Provincial Fire Extinction Agency (APEI) of Granada has announced nine firefighter positions, Group C, Subgroup C1, Special Administration, through an open competitive examination system. The call was approved by Resolution 207/2026, dated October 22, signed by the Agency’s vice president, Eduardo Miguel Martos Hidalgo, and is published in full in the Official Gazette of the Province of Granada no. 209, dated October 28, 2026, with reference CVE: BOP-GRA-2026-209002. Applicants will have ten business days, counting from the day following the publication of the announcement in the Official State Gazette (BOE), to submit their application.
The positions are vacant in the Agency’s 2026 staff, categorized under the Special Administration Scale and endowed with the remuneration of Subgroup C1. They originate from the APEI’s 2026 public employment offer, approved by Resolution 90/2026, dated May 7, and published in the Official Gazette of the Province number 91, dated May 14, 2026. The number of positions may be increased by up to an additional 10% with vacancies that occur until the date of publication of the call in the BOE, in accordance with Article 70 of the revised text of the Basic Statute of Public Employees.
This call is added to other processes already underway at the Agency, such as the seven sub-inspector positions of Group B via internal promotion competition-examination, whose provisional list of admitted and excluded candidates was published on September 2, 2026, or the administrative position whose bases were modified by Resolution 205/2026, dated October 16.

Applicants must meet the following requirements by the last day of the deadline:
- Spanish nationality and functional capacity for the performance of the tasks.
- Be at least sixteen years old and not exceed the maximum compulsory retirement age.
- Hold a Bachiller or Technician degree, or equivalent.
- Possess driving licenses of classes C and C+E and commit to driving the service vehicles.
- Not have been dismissed through disciplinary proceedings nor be disqualified from public employment.
The application must be submitted mandatorily electronically at https://dipgra.convoca.online/, using the Annex II model, and accepts electronic DNI, digital certificate, Permanent Cl@ve, or Occasional Cl@ve. It must be accompanied by the DNI, driving licenses, the responsible declaration of Annex IV, and proof of payment of the examination fee, set at 130 euros, which shall be deposited into account ES90 3023 0009 4767 3700 8406 of Caja Rural Granada. The omission of documentation is cause for exclusion.
Four eliminatory tests and up to 800 hours of training
The process consists of four blocks, all of which are eliminatory:
- Knowledge test: a theoretical exercise of 100 questions plus 5 reserves and a theoretical-specific one of 50 plus 3 reserves, with a total duration of 150 minutes, four alternative answers, and a penalty of one-third per error; a minimum of 5 points is required in each part.
- Physical tests: pull-ups with a minimum of 12 repetitions, 100-meter sprint, 1,500-meter endurance run, and 100-meter freestyle swimming, with an official medical certificate issued within the previous three months.
- Psychotechnical tests: assessment of mental aptitudes, personality, and personal interview, graded as Fit or Unfit.
- Medical examination, in accordance with the exclusion table of Annex II and Decree 36/2025, of February 11.
Those who pass the competitive examination must complete a selective training course of between 300 and 800 hours taught by IESPA; those who have already passed it in the same category or prove more than one year of active service in a fire extinguishing service in Andalusia will be exempt.
One additional position, job pool, and appeal process
Under the 28th additional provision of Law 5/2023, of June 7, the call reserves one additional position equivalent to 20% of the nine announced, which will be awarded to the applicant with the highest score who does not obtain a permanent position, subject to the replacement rate of the year in which the vacancy occurs. Participants who pass the process without obtaining a position will join a job pool for temporary needs, with calls made in order of score and 24 hours to respond.
The selection body will consist of a presidency, three memberships, and a secretariat, all with substitutes and at level C1 or higher, and the order of action will begin with the letter “Ñ”. An optional appeal for reversal may be filed against the rules within one month, or a contentious-administrative appeal within two months before the Court of First Instance of Granada.
The call is the largest new entry offer made this year by the Provincial Fire Extinguishing Agency and arrives with the examination calendar still without a date for the first exercise, which will be set at least 48 hours in advance. For applicants across the province, it represents one of the few doors for direct access to the status of career civil servant in the extinguishing service, and for the staff, the incorporation of nine personnel who will reinforce the parks dependent on the Provincial Council.
