The Cantabrian Health Service announces a call for a unit head position in Valdecilla

The Cantabrian Health Service has opened the provision, through the system of free appointment, of a Unit Head position at the Marqués de Valdecilla University Hospital. The call, identified as LD SCS/16/2026, is published in the Official Gazette of Cantabria number 186, dated September 28, 2026, with the official reference CVE-2026-7475. The deadline for submitting applications is fifteen business days starting from the day following the publication.

The resolution is dated Santander, September 22, 2026, and is signed by the managing director of the Cantabrian Health Service, by delegation of signature granted according to the Resolution of December 13, 2023, through the director of Human Resources and Administrative Coordination, Juan Ramón Artiga Guerrero. The text is based on Article 50 and Article 5.3.e) of the Cantabria Law 9/2010, of December 23, on Statutory Personnel of Health Institutions of the Autonomous Community of Cantabria.

The call is part of a continuous series of free appointment processes by the organization: LD SCS/15/2026 (Official Gazette of Cantabria number 173, of September 8, 2026, reference CVE-2026-7004) for a Primary Care Team Coordinator position; LD SCS/14/2026 (Gazette number 158, of August 18, 2026, reference CVE-2026-6516), already awarded by a resolution published on September 21, 2026 (CVE-2026-7260); and LD SCS/12/2026, awarded through the resolution reference CVE-2026-6614.

One supervision position in Critical Cardiology

The called position is detailed in Annex I of the resolution with the following characteristics:

• Designation: Unit Supervisor.
• Classification group and subgroup: A/A2.
• Level: 22.
• Management: Specialized Care Management Area I, Marqués de Valdecilla University Hospital.
• Unit: Critical Cardiology.
• Staff code: 2000P80500010ZX.

Permanent statutory personnel belonging to the classification subgroup described in Annex I may participate in the call.

Applications, report, and interviews

Applications are formalized using the model in Annex II, addressed to the managing director of the Cantabrian Health Service, and are submitted to the Registry of the organization’s Managing Directorate or through any of the channels provided for in Article 134.8 of Law 5/2018, of November 22, on the Legal Regime of the Government, the Administration, and the Institutional Public Sector of Cantabria, and in Article 16 of Law 39/2015, of October 1, on the Common Administrative Procedure of Public Administrations.

Along with the application, the following must be provided:

• The professional curriculum vitae, including academic degrees, experience, publications, courses, and other merits.
• A memorandum regarding the requested position, including an analysis of its tasks, requirements, conditions, and means for its performance.

The organization may call for personal interviews regarding the curriculum vitae, the memorandum, and the aptitudes for the position.

Temporary appointment and appeal process

The call will be resolved by a resolution of the managing director of the Servicio Cántabro de Salud, which will be published in the Boletín Oficial de Cantabria within a maximum period of two months from the end of the application period, extendable for up to one more month. Positions may be declared vacant by reasoned agreement if no suitable candidates apply.

The successful candidate will receive a temporary appointment and may be dismissed discretionarily at any time by the appointing authority. They must vacate their current position within three business days following the publication of the resolution and take office within three business days, or within one month if it involves a change of residence; failure to take office implies the loss of rights derived from the process, unless there is a justified cause. Permanent statutory staff of the Servicio Cántabro de Salud who are successful candidates retain the reservation of their original position. An administrative appeal (recurso de alzada) may be filed against the resolution, which does not exhaust the administrative route, before the Health Counselor within one month.

The process is of interest to permanent statutory staff of subgroup A/A2 aspiring to an intermediate management position in Cantabria’s main reference hospital, and confirms the commitment of the Servicio Cántabro de Salud to free designation to fill healthcare management roles, with temporary and revocable appointments.
