The Principality makes 47 Nursing positions permanent in elderly care homes
Por FactBox Admin

The Principality of Asturias has arranged for the permanent employment contracting of 47 Nursing professionals out of the 48 positions announced, corresponding to the public employment offers of 2022 and 2023. The decision is formalized through the Resolution of October 15, 2026, of the Department of Presidency, Demographic Challenge, Equality, and Tourism, published in the Official Gazette of the Principality of Asturias (BOPA) no. 207, dated October 26, 2026, with reference 2026-08492.
A process announced in July 2025
The selection process was announced by Resolution of July 24, 2025 (BOPA of July 30, 2025) to fill 48 positions in the category of Intermediate Degree Holder (Nurse), via a competitive examination system and in four shifts: ordinary internal promotion, internal promotion for persons with disabilities, ordinary open access, and open access for persons with disabilities.
The positions originate from the Public Employment Offer of 2022 (BOPA of December 30, 2022) and 2023 (BOPA of December 28, 2023) of the Administration of the Principality, its agencies, and public entities. The resolution is based on article 14.c) of the Principality of Asturias Law 2/2023, of March 15, on Public Employment, which grants the department competent in public employment the authority to contract permanent labor personnel.
47 contracts and one forfeited applicant
The annex of the resolution lists 47 awardees. The remaining position remains unfilled after Silvia Suárez Lagar was declared to have forfeited her right to permanent employment contracting by Resolution of October 13, 2026, for failing to meet one of the requirements demanded in the general bases of the call. The text orders the cancellation of the contracting actions referring to that applicant.
The contracts are permanent in nature and the assigned destinations are considered definitive. All positions fall under Group B, level 18, with specific supplement A PEL and TUR.
Destinations in elderly residences throughout Asturias
The positions depend on the autonomous body Residential Establishments for the Elderly (ERA) and, in a single case, on the Department of Social Rights and Welfare. The centers with the most assignments are:
- Santa Teresa Multipurpose Resource Center for Older Adults (Oviedo): 8 places.
- Mixed Multipurpose Resource Center for Older Adults (Gijón): 8 places.
- El Cristo Multipurpose Resource Center for Older Adults (Oviedo): 5 places.
- Infiesto Residence (Piloña) and Lugones Residence (Siero): 3 places each.

- “Arco Iris” Residential Center (Oviedo), El Trisquel (Oviedo), Lastres (Colunga), La Tenderina and Oviedo Apartments, La Vega (Mieres) and Llanes: 1 place each.
The annex lists by name the 47 awardees, including:

Seven days to sign and two months to appeal
The Administration must sign the contracts within a maximum period of seven days from the publication of the destination award, in accordance with article 43.8 of the V Collective Agreement for the labor personnel of the Administration of the Principality of Asturias, signed on July 5, 2005. The resolution will also be published on the Transparency Portal, in application of the Law of the Principality of Asturias 8/2018, of September 14.
Against the resolution, which is final in the administrative route, a claim may be filed before the social courts within two months from the day following its notification, according to article 69 of Law 36/2011, of October 10, regulating social jurisdiction. The document was signed in Oviedo on October 15, 2026, by the Councilor for Presidency, Demographic Challenge, Equality and Tourism, by delegation (Resolution of April 2, 2024, BOPA of April 9, 2024), through the Director General of Public Employment.
The resolution closes the pool of Nursing positions committed across two budget years and converts 47 positions, which until now were covered by temporary formulas in the public network of elderly care residences, into permanent ones. For candidates from the 2022 and 2023 calls, this means the consolidation of their position; for the network’s staff as a whole, it means the addition of permanent staff in centers with a high care load and territorial dispersion, from Llanes to Aller.
