El Hospital Dr. Negrín abre concurso para un food truck con terraza

The Canarian Health Service has opened the procedure to authorize the assignment of public space for the location and operation of a food truck with a terrace area at the facilities of the Juan Carlos I Hospital and its annex, the Polivalente Hospital, centers dependent on the Management Directorate of the Dr. Negrín University Hospital of Gran Canaria. The announcement, signed on October 15, 2026, by the managing director Miguel Ángel Ponce González, is published in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands no. 217, dated October 29, 2026, within section V of tender announcements.

The call is processed by the Dr. Negrín University Hospital of Gran Canaria, through its Administrative Contracting Service, and is resolved by competition through an open ordinary award procedure. The award will be governed by the criteria set forth in the Particular Administrative Clauses Specifications, the document to which interested parties must refer to learn the details of the operating conditions.

Four-year term and minimum fee

The contract provides for an initial duration of two years, extendable by a further two-year extension, up to a maximum of four fiscal years of activity. In return, the successful bidder will pay the hospital a minimum annual amount of 933.15 euros for each twelve-month period.

  • Object: authorization for the assignment of public space for a food truck and terrace area.
  • Location: facilities of the Juan Carlos I Hospital and its annex, the Polivalente Hospital.
  • Term: 2 years, with a 2-year extension.
  • Minimum consideration: 933.15 euros annually for each 12-month period.
  • Procedure: competition through an open ordinary procedure.

Requirements and submission of bids

Bidders must prove economic, financial, and technical solvency by the means provided in the specifications. Bids must be submitted within 20 calendar days starting from the day following the publication of the tender on the Public Sector Procurement Platform (PLACSP), and the required documentation is detailed in the specifications.

Information and documentation can be obtained from the Administrative Contracting Service of the hospital center, located at Barranco de la Ballena street, s/n, 35019 Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, and through the Public Sector Procurement Platform portal. The announcement also establishes that the successful bidder will assume the payment of the publication costs of this announcement in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands.

A service for patients, companions, and staff

The facility is located within the complex that Hospital Dr. Negrín maintains in the north of Gran Canaria, where Hospital Juan Carlos I and the Hospital Polivalente concentrate healthcare activity and a constant flow of users. The opening of a mobile catering point with a terrace adds a hospitality alternative within a healthcare environment and opens the door to operators in the catering sector interested in a space with stable footfall during the planned four-year term.

The file reaches the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands just two weeks after the announcement was signed and leaves the schedule in the hands of the Public Sector Procurement Platform: it will be the publication of the tender on that portal that activates the countdown of 20 calendar days to submit bids. With a minimum fee of 933.15 euros per year and a public space within a hospital precinct, the call gauges the real interest of the hospitality sector in a unique location, far from usual commercial circuits and conditioned by the operating rules of a healthcare center.
