Don Benito announces three Field Guard positions via internal promotion
Por FactBox Admin

The Don Benito City Council has announced selective tests to permanently fill three Field Guard positions, Rural Guard section, as civil servant personnel through the internal promotion track. The call is signed by the Mayor-President, Elisabeth Medina Bravo, and is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Badajoz number 208, corresponding to Thursday, October 29, 2026, within the Local Administration section under reference Announcement 4288/2026.
Three positions from the 2026 public employment offer
The positions are included in the 2026 Public Employment Offer and carry the Job Position Relationship codes ACGC07, ACGC08, and ACGC09. They correspond to group C, subgroup C1, Special Administration scale, Special Services subscale, with the remuneration specific to that group, level, and specific supplement.
The selection system is a competitive examination (concurso-oposición), with one relevant peculiarity: the evaluation of the merit phase (concurso) will be carried out once the examination phase (oposición) has ended and only among those who have passed it. The applicable regulatory framework is Law 7/1985, regulating the Bases of the Local Regime, Royal Legislative Decree 5/2015 approving the Basic Statute of the Public Employee, Decree 201/1995 of the Autonomous Community of Extremadura, and Law 39/2015 on administrative procedure.
Requirements reserved for municipal personnel
Access is limited to the City Council’s own personnel, as required by internal promotion:
- Be a career civil servant of the Don Benito City Council, occupying a position in group C, subgroup C2, with at least two years of effective service in said group.
- Hold a High School diploma (Bachiller), Technical degree or equivalent, or prove ten years of seniority in subgroup C2, or five years and the completion of a specific training course.
- Possess the Professional Identity Card for Rural Guards from the Ministry of the Interior, in its specialties of Game Guard or Maritime Fishing Guard, or the professional card prior to 2014, or prove ten years as a career civil servant in a Field Guard position of subgroup C2.
- Possess driving licenses of classes A2 and B.
Applications shall be submitted within 20 business days starting from the day following the publication of the call announcement in the Official State Gazette (BOE), once the full rules have been published in the BOP of Badajoz. Examination fees are set at 10.00 euros, with a 50% reduction for those who prove a degree of disability equal to or greater than 33%.
A single exercise with two eliminatory parts
The examination phase consists of a single exercise held in one act and is divided into two tests, both of which are eliminatory:
- A multiple-choice questionnaire of 30 questions with three alternative answers, with ten additional reserve questions, a maximum of one and a half hours, and one point per correct answer; errors do not subtract points. 15 points are required to pass.
- The written resolution of one or more practical cases related to the position, with a maximum of 60 minutes and a score from 0 to 30 points, with a minimum of 15 required.
The tests may not begin until at least 15 business days have passed since the publication of the rules in the BOP, and the complete process may not exceed twelve months, except for justified cause. The syllabus, contained in Annex II, consists of 25 topics covering everything from the Constitution and the local regime to the Law 6/2015 Agrarian of Extremadura, the Decree 132/2022 approving the INFOEX Plan for fighting forest fires, waste regulations, environmental protection, and the management of platforms such as Catastro or SIGPAC.
In the competition phase, up to 20 points for work experience are valued (one point per year in subgroup C2 and 1.25 per year in group C1 positions), 10 points for training, and 10 points for other qualifications. Ties are resolved by experience, training, score in the competitive examination, and other qualifications, in that order.
The Qualifying Tribunal will be presided over by a public employee designated by the Mayor’s Office, with the Secretary of the Corporation as secretary and five members, including one from the Junta de Extremadura; unions with municipal representation may act as observers, with a voice but no vote. The final designation corresponds to the Mayor-President, and taking office requires an oath or promise in accordance with Royal Decree 707/1979. An optional appeal for reversal may be filed against the rules within one month, or a contentious-administrative appeal before the Contentious-Administrative Court of Mérida.
Impact on rural environment surveillance
The call reinforces the Rural Guard of Don Benito with three new career civil servants, a service that assumes the surveillance of public roads, livestock routes, riverbeds, hunting enclosures, plantations, and spills in a municipal district of a marked agricultural character. The position is resolved entirely through internal promotion, so that coverage will depend on the municipal personnel of subgroup C2 who meet the qualification and professional authorization requirements.
