Cultura reparte 350.000 euros en axudas á produción editorial literaria galega

The Department of Culture, Language and Youth grants aid to the Galician publishing sector for literary production expenses for the 2026 and 2027 financial years, within the framework of procedure CT238D. The resolution is published in the Official Gazette of Galicia (DOG) no. 212, of November 5, 2026, by means of the Resolution of October 28, 2026 of the General Directorate of Culture, which orders the publication of the full content of the Resolution of October 27, 2026 regarding the granting of aid, signed by Anxo Manuel Lorenzo Suárez. Publication in the DOG serves as notification and exhausts administrative remedies.

The call is based on the Order of June 22, 2026, published in DOG no. 126 of July 8, 2026, which establishes the regulatory bases for these grants under a competitive bidding process. The instructing body is the Sub-directorate General of Libraries and Books, and the evaluation of applications was carried out by the Evaluation Commission. The maximum amount called for amounts to 350,000 euros, charged to budget application 13.03.432A.770.1 of the general budgets of the Autonomous Community for 2026.

Three programs and a budget of 350,000 euros

The bases structure the support into three lines of editorial production, which are developed on a biennial basis:

  • Program 1. Editorial production in any language in Galicia: 250,000 euros.
  • Program 2. Editorial production of easy-to-read books in physical or digital format in Galician: included in the 100,000 euros allocated to programs 2 and 3.
  • Program 3. Editorial production of audiobooks in Galician: same joint allocation of 100,000 euros.

Each publisher could submit a maximum of 20 applications in total: 10 for program 1 and 5 for each of programs 2 and 3. The maximum amount awarded per publisher is 20,000 euros for program 1 and 15,000 euros for the combined total of programs 2 and 3. If the easy-to-read and audiobook programs do not exhaust the credit, the remainder will increase program 1.

Distribution by projects and two annual installments

The resolution grants aid for the costs of editing, distribution, and marketing of the projects in Annex I. The minimum score to access the grant is 40 points, and the amount of each grant is calculated proportionally to the score obtained, with a maximum percentage of the eligible investment ranging from 65% to 85% depending on the bracket. Payment is divided between a first annual installment of 40% of the total granted and a second installment of the remaining 60%.

Among the resolved projects are, by way of example:

  • Initium Lar, S.L., “Monastic Hospitality” (easy read): 5,000 euros, 89 points.
  • José Luis Teófilo Comunicación, S.L., “The prose of a brave woman. Rosalía de Castro”: 6,471 euros.
  • Edicións Xerais de Galicia, S.A., audiobook “The Night of the Onions”: 4,500 euros.
  • Nortideas-Comunicación, S.L., “Galician seafood. Atlantic excellence”: 4,034 euros.
  • Daniel Chapela Durán, “Leaves of Grass”: 3,525 euros, 85 points.
  • Fundación Uxío Novoneyra, audiobook “The Fields”: 3,409 euros, 82 points.
  • Editorial Galaxia, S.A., “Guide to Galicia (centenary)” and audiobook “Memoirs of a Peasant Boy”: 2,469 and 2,534 euros.
  • Kalandraka Editora, S.L., “Elmer and the Doll”: 2,542 euros, 80 points.

Exclusions, deadlines and appeals

Annex II lists the non-subsidized projects and the reasons. It includes exclusions for not reaching the minimum score of 40 points, withdrawals according to article 94.1 of Law 39/2015, withdrawals for failing to amend the requirement, and one exclusion for breaching article 6.a) of the bases. This is the case, among others, with four projects from Hércules de Ediciones and five from Merlín Comunicación, S.L., or with the work “New Dictionary of the Galician of Bierzo” by Edicións Positivas, S.L.

The grants are de minimis aid exempt according to Commission Regulation (EU) 2023/2831, and their effectiveness is subject to acceptance by the beneficiary entity. The Order of October 21, 2026, published in DOG no. 207 on October 29, extended the deadline to justify the first annual payment until December 14, 2026. An optional appeal for reversal may be filed within one month, or a contentious-administrative appeal within two months before the High Court of Justice of Galicia.

The impact of the measure is measured by the sector’s calendar: subsidized works must be edited, marketed and, if applicable, distributed between January 1, 2026, and September 30, 2027, with a minimum print run of 400 copies in paper —300 for poetry, theater, essays and easy read— and a minimum of 60 pages. Beneficiary publishers must state in the credits or advertising that the work received a grant from the Xunta de Galicia.
