Consumer Complaints Board orders Herning woodwork firm to pay customer

Forbrugerklagenævnet, the Danish Consumer Complaints Board, has ordered Søndergrøn-træværk ApS, a woodworking company registered in Herning, to pay DKK 2,400 plus interest to a consumer. The decision is dated 9 March 2026 and was served publicly on 7 October 2026 because it had not been possible to serve it by any other means. The announcement was published in Statstidende on 9 October 2026 under the official reference S07102026-227.

The notice was issued by Nævnenes Hus in Viborg, the agency that administers the complaints board. It rests on § 12(9) of the executive order on the handling of consumer complaints in Nævnenes Hus and Forbrugerklagenævnet (BEK nr 65 af 16/01/2019), read together with § 31 of the Danish Act on alternative dispute resolution in consumer complaints (LOV nr 524 af 29/04/2015). Public service is the route used when a trader cannot be reached by ordinary means, and it is what makes the board’s ruling binding on the party concerned.

What the board decided

  • Debtor: Søndergrøn-træværk ApS, Humlevænget 8, 7400 Herning, CVR 45439658.
  • Creditor: Rikke Aagaard Jørgensen.
  • Amount: DKK 2,400.
  • Interest: at the rate set by the Danish Interest Act (renteloven), running from 26 June 2025.
  • Payment deadline: 30 days from the date of service.
  • Date of the board’s decision: 9 March 2026.

The company must pay the sum within 30 days of the service date, with interest accruing on the principal from 26 June 2025. The decision itself was reached on 9 March 2026, roughly seven months before the public service was carried out.

The notice sets out two separate 30-day windows running from the date of service. If Søndergrøn-træværk ApS does not wish to be bound by the ruling, it must say so in writing to Forbrugerklagenævnet within 30 days. Failure to notify the board means the decision acquires the force of a court judgment and can be enforced through the enforcement court (fogedretten).

The company may also, within the same 30-day period, apply in writing to Forbrugerklagenævnet for the case to be reopened (genoptagelse). Such an application has suspensive effect, meaning enforcement does not proceed while it is pending. A copy of the decision can be obtained by contacting Nævnenes Hus.

Public service as a last resort

The notice states explicitly that the decision is served publicly because service by other means was not possible. That wording is standard for this type of announcement and signals that the board has exhausted ordinary channels before turning to publication in the official gazette.

The same issue of Statstidende carries a second public service of a Forbrugerklagenævnet ruling, published under reference S07102026-262. In that case, Roxanne Melanie Møller Darling, trading as R.D Skadedyrsservice (now ceased), of Smørum, CVR 41770198, was ordered on 20 August 2025 to pay DKK 1,995 plus interest to Tine Frantzen Gyldensteen, with interest running from 25 October 2024. Both notices were issued from Viborg on 7 October 2026.

For consumers, the publication is the point at which a complaints board ruling stops being a piece of correspondence and becomes an enforceable claim. For the company named, the clock is now running: silence for 30 days converts the DKK 2,400 award into a debt that can be pursued in the enforcement court, while a written objection or a request to reopen the case preserves its position.
