The town council activates two simultaneous selection processes
The Cassà de la Selva Town Council has simultaneously launched two staff calls that respond to needs for covering positions and substitutions at the council and its municipal facilities. Both resolutions were approved by mayoral decree and were published yesterday, Monday 17 August 2026, in the Official Gazette of the Province of Girona (No. 157).
The decision to promote both calls jointly highlights the staffing shortages that the council has been carrying and reflects the governing team’s willingness to get down to work on a situation that affects both public safety and the ordinary operation of the municipality’s cultural facilities.
Local police officer pool: a competitive examination with five exercises
The broadest call —published under the edict number BOP-2026_0_157_7267— aims to establish a work pool of local police officers, from the classification group C1, through a free competitive examination. The legal basis supporting the selection process is Mayoral Decree No. 1978, of 5 August 2026, associated with file X2026003173.
Applicants will have to pass five compulsory and eliminatory exercises: a theoretical multiple-choice test of 50 questions, a test of knowledge of the official languages, physical tests, a psychotechnical test that includes a personal interview, and a medical examination. Applicants who pass the process will be automatically integrated into the pool and will be called to cover substitutions due to sick leave, holidays, birth and childcare, or accumulation of tasks.
Requirements and conditions
The requirements for participating in this process are:
- Hold Spanish nationality.
- Have turned 18 and not exceed the ordinary retirement age.
- Minimum height of 1.55 m for women and 1.65 m for men.
- Baccalaureate qualification or equivalent.
- Driving licences of classes A2 and B.
- Intermediate level Catalan certificate (B2) or equivalent.
- Not suffer from any illness that prevents the exercise of the duties.
The position has a specific supplement of 17,819.34 gross euros per year, distributed in 14 payments, with a destination supplement level of 14. The duties are regulated by article 5 of Organic Law 2/1986, of 13 March, on Security Forces and Corps, and by articles 10, 11 and 12 of Law 16/1991, of 10 July, on Local Police Forces.
Permanent labourer caretaker at the Sala Galà
The second call, published under edict number BOP-2026_0_157_7256, announces the selection process for the definitive coverage of one janitor position assigned to the Sala Galà, under a permanent labour regime, in the classification group C2 and with a destination supplement level of 12. The call is based on Mayor’s Decree no. 2001, of 7 August 2026, associated with file X2026003136.
In parallel to the permanent coverage, this same call also constitutes a job pool for temporary labour staff for urgent replacements in the same category. The selection procedure will be a free competitive examination.
Characteristics of the position
The main characteristics of the janitor position are:
- Legal regime: permanent labour staff.
- Working hours: ordinary, mainly in the afternoon shift and, depending on needs, in the morning shift.
- Specific supplement: €9,169.44 per year in 14 payments.
- Required qualification: Compulsory Secondary Education Graduate (ESO) or equivalent.
- Mandatory Catalan: level B2 or equivalent.
- Exam fee: €15, according to the council’s Tax Ordinance no. 7.
The duties include public assistance, access control and surveillance of the premises, opening and closing of facilities, auxiliary maintenance tasks and logistical support for municipal activities and events.
Application deadline and publication
Both calls have been published in the BOP of Girona no. 157, of 17 August 2026, and will also be published in the Official Gazette of the Government of Catalonia (DOGC) and on the Town Council’s electronic notice board. In the case of the local police pool, the deadline for submitting applications will be 20 calendar days counted from the day after publication in the DOGC. As for the janitor position, the deadline will be 20 business days from the same date.
A response to staffing needs
The double call coincides with a time when many municipalities in the Girona regions are facing difficulties in filling positions for essential services. The creation of the job pools will allow Cassà de la Selva to have a reserve of qualified staff to deal with unforeseen events without having to launch emergency calls. For aspiring local police officers, the selection process represents an opportunity to access a position in the force with stable conditions, although appointments will initially be of an interim nature until permanent vacancies arise.
