ANA registers discharge permit for Supermercados Unidos into the Mayales River

The National Water Authority (ANA) registered in favor of Corporación de Supermercados Unidos de Nicaragua, S.A. the discharge permit for domestic wastewater from the STAR CSU Juigalpa treatment system, with a maximum annual volume of 3,060.00 cubic meters into the Mayales River. The registration is contained in the certification published in La Gaceta, Official Gazette No. 192 of Tuesday, October 20, 2026, under Reg. 2026-01011, and corresponds to Administrative Resolution No. RAE-ANA-DGRH-0146-2026, issued on August 27, 2026, and notified on September 30, 2026.

The procedure is based on Law No. 620, “General Law of National Waters,” published in La Gaceta, Official Gazette No. 169 of September 4, 2007, and Law No. 1046, “Reform Law to Law No. 620,” published in the Official Gazette No. 217 of November 23, 2020. The registration is operated by the National Public Registry of Water Rights and Service Providers, whose holder acts by provision of Administrative Resolution No. 140-2019, “Appointment of the National Public Registrar of Water Rights,” dated December 20, 2019.

The certification details the characteristics of the authorized system and the discharge point:

• System location: basin No. 69 “San Juan River,” municipality of Juigalpa, department of Chontales, UTM WGS84 coordinates 678490 E – 1337529 N.
• Discharge point: “STAR CSU Juigalpa discharge point,” in the same basin, UTM WGS84 coordinates 678640 E – 1337502 N.
• Maximum annual discharge volume: 3,060.00 m³.
• Origin of the discharge: domestic residual.
• Receiving body: Mayales River.
• Validity of the granted right: five years starting from the notification.

Registry entry and publication

The entry was recorded under Perpetual Number 0026, Folios 37 and 38, Volume VII of the Discharge Permit Registration Book, with the registry code RPNDAPS-LIPV-IPV-0026-2026. The application was submitted on September 30, 2026, by architect Arlen Yahoska Segura Guevara, acting as special proxy for the commercial company, who accredited her representation through public deed number 73 of October 14, 1997, and testimony of public deed number 205 of July 6, 2018.

The certification was signed by registrar Luis Fernando Yescas García at 11:20 a.m. on September 30, 2026, in Managua, and was issued in compliance with the Eighth Resolve of the registered resolution, which orders the act to be published in La Gaceta, Official Gazette, within a maximum period of fifteen calendar days. The original resolution had been signed at 11:13 a.m. on that same day.

A routine procedure in the bulletin

The same edition of the Official Gazette includes other registration certifications from the ANA, such as the one corresponding to Reg. 2026-01010, which registers Administrative Resolution No. RAE-ANA-DGRH-0151-2026 in favor of Heberto Arturo Rivas Melgara under code RPNDAPS-LITC-ITC-0115-2026, in the Concession Titles Registration Book. The bulletin, corresponding to Year CXXX, has 24 pages and a print run of 320 copies.

The permit granted to Corporación de Supermercados Unidos de Nicaragua, S.A. is of interest to the retail chain as it formalizes, for five years and with a measured annual ceiling, the discharge of domestic wastewater from its treatment system in Juigalpa. For basin No. 69 “Río San Juan” and for the Mayales River as the receiving body, the publication establishes in the public registry the authorized volume and the exact coordinates of the discharge point, data that remain available for third-party verification and for environmental compliance control in Chontales.
