Algodonales approves improvements for its officials with retirement bonus

The Algodonales City Council has definitively approved the agreement for improvements for civil servants, which incorporates social and medical aid, a retirement bonus of up to eight monthly payments, and a special working day for those nearing retirement. The resolution is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Cádiz no. 198, dated October 14, 2026, under announcement No. 323,371, following its approval in the ordinary session on September 8.

Approval, validity, and scope of application

The announcement states that “in the ordinary session dated September 8, the definitive approval of the agreement for improvements for civil servants was carried out, and it is now being published for its entry into force and application.” The document is signed by the secretary-auditor Fernando Isidro Ambrosy Jiménez in Algodonales, on September 25, 2026.

The agreement enters into force the day after its publication in the Official Gazette of the Province and extends its effects until December 31, 2027, being automatically renewed year by year unless terminated with at least one month’s notice. Its personal scope covers:

• Career civil servants in active service.
• Interim civil servants or those on secondment.
• Temporary civil servants, except regarding remunerative concepts.
• Civil servants in training.

The Joint Commission, composed of the mayor or delegated councilor and the personnel delegate, will ensure its application and interpretation.

Retirement bonus of up to eight monthly payments

Article 28 regulates an extraordinary and non-consolidatable retirement bonus, linked to the termination of the service relationship due to retirement or permanent disability. The amount is fixed according to the years of effective service provided as a career civil servant:

• From 5 to 9 years: 2 monthly payments.
• From 10 to 14 years: 3 monthly payments.
• From 15 to 19 years: 4 monthly payments.
• From 20 to 24 years: 5 monthly payments.
• From 25 to 29 years: 6 monthly payments.
• From 30 to 34 years: 7 monthly payments.
• 35 years or more: 8 monthly payments.

The bonus is accrued as a single event and is paid in installments over 36 months, subject to budget availability, and will be made effective within three months following the recognition resolution. Labor personnel, interim civil servants, temporary personnel, and professional managers are excluded.

Special working day and occupational health

Article 29 establishes a special working day without reduction in pay for those with less than five years remaining until retirement, according to the following scale:

• From four to three years before retirement: 1 hour.
• From three to two years before: 1 hour.
• From two years to one year before: 2 hours.
• The final year before retirement: 3 hours.

Hourly credit may be accumulated weekly or monthly and will require the submission of the request along with a work history report. Regarding occupational health, 100% of the temporary disability supplement will be paid for professional contingencies and for common contingencies involving hospitalization or surgical intervention, and an annual medical examination will be carried out for anyone who requests it between January 1 and January 31.

Social, medical, and school aid

The social conditions chapter details the benefits for personnel with at least one and a half years of seniority:

• Ocular prostheses, dental treatments, and medications for chronic diseases, up to 150 euros annually per beneficiary and a combined cap of 500 euros annually per worker.
• School aid of 100 euros annually per child in daycare and high school, and 150 euros for university studies.
• Monthly aid of 60 euros per descendant or ascendant with a recognized disability of at least 33%.
• Life insurance with capitals of 12,020.24 euros for death, 24,040.48 euros for accidents, and 36,060.73 euros for traffic accidents.
• Repayable advances of up to one semi-annual extra payment.

The agreement also recognizes six business days of leave for personal matters, extendable by two more days, and fifteen calendar days for marriage.

Impact for the municipal workforce

The entry into force of this agreement provides the civil service workforce of Algodonales with its own framework of social, remunerative, and reconciliation rights until the end of 2027, with direct improvements in the final stage of the professional career and in the coverage of medical and school expenses. The text will apply to all municipal workplaces, even when personnel perform duties outside the municipal boundary.
