Alcover convokes an urgent recruitment pool to hire a gralla teacher

Por FactBox Admin

The Alcover City Council has announced an urgent job bank to recruit temporary public employees as a teacher at the Alcover Municipal School of Music, specialising in the gralla, group A1. The call, approved by Mayor’s Resolution No. 2026-1013, of 7 August 2026, is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Tarragona on Thursday 13 August with the official reference CVE 2026-07691 and will be resolved by a merits assessment competition.

The process, filed under case number 1921/2026, aims to establish a job bank to cover vacancies, replacements and other temporary needs for the position of gralla and choral singing teacher at the centre. The post, identified by the job classification code 08.01.01.08, offers a part-time working day and remuneration according to professional group A1.

The resolution bears the electronic signature of the mayor Robert Figueras Roca, dated 10 August 2026, and the process must be carried out guaranteeing the principles of equality, merit and ability set out in Article 55 of the consolidated text of the Basic Statute of Public Employees.

Profile and requirements of applicants

To take part in the selection process, applicants must hold a higher qualification in music or equivalent in the gralla speciality, or the qualifications recognised by Decree 354, of 14 September, regulating schools providing non-regulated music and dance education. The rules also require compliance with a series of cumulative conditions:

  • Be 16 years of age or older and not exceed the compulsory retirement age; hold Spanish nationality, nationality of an EU member state or a residence permit in Spain.
  • Hold a valid class B driving licence and a certificate of criminal offences of a sexual nature.
  • Knowledge of Catalan at level C1 (or pass the specific test) and of Spanish at level C1 for those who do not hold Spanish nationality.
  • Pay the examination fee of €18.00, with an exemption for unemployed persons, to the BBVA account ES9201825634140200026185, using the reference 1921/2026.

Deadline and submission of applications

Due to the urgent nature of the selection process, the deadline for submitting applications is only five working days, counted from the last publication of the call in the Official Gazette of the Province of Tarragona. Applications, addressed to the Alcover City Council, may be submitted electronically through the specific procedure on the electronic office website (alcover.eadministracio.cat) or in person at the municipal offices, in accordance with Law 39/2015.

Selection: interview and assessment of merits

The selection system combines a competency-based interview, lasting approximately 15 minutes and worth a maximum of 5 points, with the assessment of merits, worth a maximum of 20 points distributed in two blocks:

  • Work experience (max. 10 points): 0.40 points per year as a gralla teacher in public administration; 0.30 per year as a music teacher; 0.20 per year in the private sector in gralla and 0.10 in music.
  • Training (max. 10 points): courses and seminars scored between 0.20 and 0.40 points depending on the number of hours; other academic qualifications, up to 1 point; Catalan certificates above C1, 0.5 points, and ACTIC certificate, up to 0.5 points.

Before the competition, people who have not provided documentary proof of the required language level must pass a compulsory and eliminatory Catalan or Spanish test. In case of a tie in the final score, the person with the highest score in professional experience will be prioritised and, if it persists, the one with the most training.

How the pool will work

The pool will be valid for two years from its constitution and calls will be made by telephone, with two calls at different time slots, and by email. If the person cannot be located within a maximum of 48 hours, their right in that call lapses and the next person on the list, ordered by score, is contacted.

  • Causes of exclusion are failing the probationary period, rejecting three job offers, repeated inability to locate the person, false merits or failure to submit documentation.
  • Rejecting the first or second offer moves the person to the last position on the pool.
  • Temporary incapacity, childbirth, paternity or death of relatives up to the second degree are grounds for justified suspension, which do not alter the position.

For gralla musicians and traditional music teachers in the area, the pool opens a route to teaching in a municipal school for a period of up to two years, at a time when this speciality is becoming established as a cornerstone of popular culture. Interested persons can consult the full rules in the official bulletin and on the electronic notice board of the City Council.
