Zone interdite temporaire Eulalie au-dessus de Biscarrosse

The Ministry of the Armed Forces and Veterans Affairs has created a temporary prohibited airspace security zone identified as ZIT Eulalie above Biscarrosse (Landes), within the Bordeaux flight information region. The measure is published by the decree of September 14, 2026 (NOR ARML2618716A), appearing in the Official Journal of the French Republic No. 0216 of September 16, 2026. The zone will be active from Monday, September 21 to Wednesday, October 28, 2026.

An airspace security system

ZIT Eulalie is created “for needs related to airspace security,” as part of a system intended to protect the airspace of the Bordeaux region. It is part of a series of temporary prohibited zones of the same type, such as ZIT Hourtin (Gironde), also published in the JORF on September 16, 2026, or ZIT Lanterne in Saint-Cyr-l’École (Yvelines) created at the end of August.

The characteristics and conditions for using the zone are defined in the annex to the decree. The provisions are brought to the attention of airspace users via aeronautical information.

Technical characteristics of the zone

ZIT Eulalie is delimited by a perimeter of geographical coordinates and two time arcs with a radius of 8 Nm, excluding LF-R 259 LAMANCHS. Its vertical limits extend from the surface to 1,524 meters (5,000 feet) above mean sea level.

  • Lateral limits defined by six coordinate points and two time arcs with a radius of 8 Nm;
  • Vertical limits: from the surface to 1,524 meters (5,000 feet);
  • Temporary prohibited zone coexisting with the portions of airspace with which it interferes.

Activation and penetration conditions

The zone is activated by NOTAM with 48 hours’ notice, on September 21, 2026, from 5:00 AM to 11:00 AM (UTC), with possible postponements from September 22 to October 28, 2026 inclusive, from 5:00 AM to 11:00 AM. The decree comes into force on September 21, 2026.

Penetration is prohibited, with the exception of aircraft conducting military, customs, police, search and rescue, medical transport, firefighting activities, or for technical reasons, when operating within the scope of their missions and when bypassing the zone is not possible. These aircraft must obtain penetration details from the air activity coordination cell (C2A2).

Military aircraft departing from or arriving at Cazaux are authorized after obtaining penetration details from the C2A2 and authorization from CAZAUX APP before entering ZIT Eulalie.

Services provided and organizations

Inside the zone, CAM (military aerodrome control) services are provided by the Mont-de-Marsan CDC (or the replacement CDC), while CAG (general air traffic control) services are provided by the usual air traffic organizations, in accordance with the class of the airspace with which the zone coexists. The organizations to be contacted and the procedures for informing users are specified via aeronautical information.

Scope of the measure

For airspace users in the Bordeaux region, this temporary prohibited area implies an overflight restriction above Biscarrosse for more than a month, with daily activation windows from 05:00 to 11:00 (UTC). Affected pilots and operators must consult NOTAMs and aeronautical information before any flight in the sector, and comply with the penetration conditions defined by the decree.
