Villaviciosa announces 40,000 euros in sports grants for clubs and athletes
Por FactBox Admin

The Villaviciosa City Council has announced grants for sporting activities for the 2026 fiscal year for a total amount of 40,000 euros, to be distributed among four lines of aid. The agreement was adopted by the Local Government Board on October 5, 2026, and its summary is published in the Official Gazette of the Principality of Asturias (BOPA) no. 195, dated October 8, 2026, with the official reference 2026-08190 and the identifier BDNS 933499.
The call is based on articles 17.3.b and 20.8.a of the General Grants Law 38/2003, of November 17, and refers to the full text deposited in the National Grants Database. The municipal regulatory framework consists of the City Council’s General Bases regulating the grant awarding regime, approved by agreement of the Plenary on July 2, 2026, and published in BOPA no. 171, dated September 3, 2026.
The objective is the promotion and development of sporting activities with a direct and effective impact on the municipality, which in all cases must be open to the public. The sporting modalities must correspond to those registered in the statistical file of federative licenses of the Higher Sports Council (CSD) from the previous year.
Four lines and who can apply
- Line 1. Natural persons, associations, and local sports clubs.
- Line 2. Local sports clubs.
- Line 3. Natural persons.
- Line 4. Natural persons.
Line 1 finances the organization of sporting tests or events held in Villaviciosa, whether federated or not, of a popular, local, regional, national, or international scope, as well as traditional sports competitions. Line 2 facilitates the participation of local clubs in official competitions of the corresponding federations in national or regional categories. Lines 3 and 4 are scholarships: the first for local athletes and the second for the support of adapted sports, intended exclusively for current expenses derived from sporting activity.
Entities already subsidized through collaboration agreements or any other formula for the same purpose, and sports federations in Line 2, are excluded. Activities in which the City Council has assumed the majority of expenses from its own budget are also not permitted.
Credit distribution and caps per application
The grant is charged to the budget application 341/489.00, with a maximum total amount of 40,000 euros:
- Line 1, organization of sporting tests or events: 8,000 euros.
- Line 2, local sports clubs: 24,000 euros.
- Line 3, local athletes: 7,000 euros.
- Line 4, support for adapted sports: 1,000 euros.
No grant may exceed 2,500 euros in Line 1, 3,000 euros in Line 2, or 1,000 euros in Lines 3 and 4, and in no case shall it exceed 80% of the budget of the submitted project. If a line does not exhaust its credit, the surplus may be incorporated into any other without the need for a new call for applications.
Application period and conditions
The period for submitting applications and documentation is 15 business days counted from the day following the publication of the announcement in the BOPA, which took place on October 8, 2026. Subcontracting 100% of the subsidized activities is permitted, under the terms of Article 29 of Law 38/2003. The announcement appears signed in Villaviciosa on October 5, 2026, by the Mayor-President of the corporation.
The call arrives with the sports season already underway and concentrates the bulk of the money, 24,000 of the 40,000 euros, in local clubs competing in national or regional categories, the group with the highest travel and licensing costs. For the entities and athletes of the council, the margin is narrow: fifteen business days to gather the documentation and submit the project to the municipal registry.
