Villanueva de las Manzanas doubles the value of each correct answer in its competitive examination
Por FactBox Admin

The City Council of Villanueva de las Manzanas has rectified the grading system for the theoretical test of its competitive examination to fill a position for Administrative Assistant. The correction, published in the Official Gazette of the Province of León no. 178, dated September 17, 2026, increases the value of each correct answer from 0.20 to 0.40 points. The announcement, with official reference BOP-LE-2026-178006, is signed by the mayor, Javier Pérez Martínez, and dated in the municipality on September 15, 2026.
The rules and the call for applications for the process were approved by plenary agreement on June 17, 2026, and were published in full in the Official Gazette of the Province of León no. 175, dated September 14, 2026, with reference BOP-LE-2026-175013, as well as in the Official Gazette of Castilla y León. The position, for permanent labor staff and group C2, is included in the municipality’s 2026 Public Employment Offer, approved by Mayoral resolution on February 6, 2026, and published in the BOP on March 11, 2026.
The deadline for submitting applications is twenty calendar days from the day following the publication of the call announcement in the provincial gazette; therefore, applicants may submit requests until October 4, 2026.
The arithmetic error necessitating the rectification
The rectification is a response to a discrepancy detected in the Ninth Rule, relating to the development of the opposition phase, exercise 1, first part: multiple-choice questionnaire. The rules set 50 questions and assigned a value of 0.20 points to each correct answer, but at the same time established a maximum score of 20 points for that test, a figure incompatible with the previous scale.
Having noted the discrepancy, the City Council agreed to the correction “in order to guarantee the coherence and correct application of the grading system provided for in the rules.” The rectification affects exclusively the scoring system and leaves the rest of the content of the rules and the call for applications unchanged.
What changes and what remains
The new test scale is as follows:
- Each correct answer will be valued at 0.40 points, compared to the previous 0.20.
- Each incorrect answer will subtract 0.04 points, compared to the previous 0.02.
- Unanswered questions will neither score nor subtract.
- The maximum score for the exercise remains at 20 points, and it will be necessary to obtain at least 10 points to pass.
The number of 50 questions, the maximum completion time of 30 minutes, the maximum score of 20 points, and the minimum score of 10 points required to pass remain unchanged.
The rest of the selection process
The selection system is that of a competitive examination (concurso-oposición), with two phases and a resulting employment pool:
- Merit competition phase: maximum 40 points, non-eliminatory, valuing experience as an Administrative Assistant or equivalent position in group C2 within local entities at a rate of 0.3 points per full month.
- Competitive examination phase: maximum 60 points and eliminatory in nature, consisting of a 50-question test, three theoretical-practical cases, and an office automation test.
- Exercise 1: 20-point test and 30-point practical cases, with minimums of 10 and 15 points respectively.
- Exercise 2: 10-point office automation test, with a minimum of 5 points.
- Employment pool: composed of those who pass the process without being hired, with a maximum validity of four years.
The announced vacancy is one, full-time, based in municipal offices, requiring a qualification of Graduate in Compulsory Secondary Education or equivalent.
Impact for applicants
The correction arrives barely three days after the publication of the rules and before the list of admitted candidates is resolved, therefore it does not alter the application deadline or the merits already claimed. The change doubles the weight of each correct answer in the test and also increases the penalty for errors, meaning that the margin between passing and falling below the 10-point cutoff is now decided with half the net correct answers compared to the previous scale.
