Villablino calls for a keyboard and musical language teacher

The Villablino City Council has made public the call and the rules of the selection process for the hiring of temporary labor personnel, under the modality of substitution and interim contracts, to fill the position of keyboard and musical language teacher at the Municipal Music School. The announcement, approved by Mayoral Decree on September 7, 2026, is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of León number 177, dated September 16, 2026, with reference BOP-LE-2026-177009 and file 1518/2026.
The hiring is in response to the paternity leave of the position’s holder; therefore, the post will be covered during two periods: from 10/19/2026 to 12/20/2026 and from 01/11/2027 to 02/07/2027. The working day will be 35 hours per week, from Monday to Friday, and the remuneration will be those established in the applicable collective agreement. The provision is supported by article 15.3 of the Workers’ Statute (Royal Legislative Decree 2/2015) and article 4.2.b of Royal Decree 2720/1998.
Requirements and submission of applications
Applicants must meet the required conditions at the time the application submission period ends, which will be ten calendar days counted from the day following the publication of the call in the BOP. Applications shall be submitted to the General Registry of the City Council, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., addressed to the Mayor.
- Be Spanish or a national of a member state of the European Union, with spoken and written proficiency in Spanish in the case of foreign applicants.
- Be at least 16 years old and not exceed the maximum compulsory retirement age.
- Not have been dismissed through disciplinary proceedings from any Public Administration.
- Hold a high school diploma (bachiller) and a professional intermediate-level music degree specializing in piano.
- Possess the functional capacity to perform the tasks inherent to the position.
The application must be accompanied by a certified photocopy of the ID (DNI) and the qualification, documents proving the claimed merits, Annex II, and the receipt of payment for the participation fee, which amounts to 20 euros, in accordance with the Fiscal Ordinance regulating the fee for participation in selection processes (BOP of León, number 8, of January 14, 2025).
Selection system: competitive examination (concurso-oposición)
The procedure combines a merit phase (concurso), with a maximum of 10 points, and an examination phase (oposición), valued at a maximum of 15 points. The final grade will be the sum of both phases.
- Professional experience (up to 5 points): 0.20 points per month in public centers and 0.15 per month in authorized private centers or as a freelancer.
- Training and professional development (up to 3 points): 0.20 points for courses of 50 or more hours and 0.10 for courses of 15 or more hours.
- Other merits (up to 2 points): higher degree in piano (1 point), solo concerts (0.20 each), and recordings and publications (0.20 each).
The competitive examination phase will consist of a practical test before the tribunal, which will assess keyboard and piano proficiency and the didactic presentation of the basic concepts for teaching the instrument. In the event of a tie, priority will be given first to the higher score in the examination and, subsequently, to professional experience.
Reserve list and hiring
Applicants who are not selected will form a job pool that will serve as a reserve list for possible substitutions in the same or a similar position, with a validity of one year, extendable for one more. The selected candidate must present the required documentation within five calendar days from the publication of their approval and will be hired under the modality of a temporary interim contract for the period specified in the call.
An optional appeal for reversal may be filed against the rules before the Mayor’s Office within one month, or a contentious-administrative appeal may be filed before the Contentious-Administrative Court of León within two months.
The call guarantees the continuity of music education at the Municipal Music School of Villablino during the absence of its holder, and provides professionals in the specialty an opportunity for temporary employment in the municipality, through a transparent and scaled process that values both teaching experience and the training and didactic capacity of the candidates.
