Viana do Bolo delimita as faixas secundarias de protección contra incendios forestais

The City Council of Viana do Bolo submits for public information the technical document of the Municipal Plan for the Prevention and Defense Against Forest Fires (PMPDIF), which delimits the secondary fire protection strips within the municipal district and determines the biomass management obligations corresponding to the persons responsible for the affected plots. The decision was adopted by Mayoral Decree number 2026-0712, dated September 25, 2026, and the announcement is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Ourense on October 9, 2026. Owners and other interested parties have twenty business days to examine the file and submit allegations.

A plan developed by Seaga and promoted by the Mayor’s Office

The document was developed and delivered to the Council by the public company Servizos Agrarios Galegos, SA (Seaga), as stated in the official announcement itself. The initial approval and the submission for public exhibition were agreed upon by the Mayor’s Office of Viana do Bolo through the cited decree, signed on September 25, 2026.

The local Government justifies the procedure based on the common administrative procedure regulations, specifically Article 83 of Law 39/2015, of October 1, which regulates the public information of files. The announcement is signed by the mayor, Graciela Diéguez Rodríguez, and bears registration number R. 2.309 of the provincial gazette.

Twenty business days to consult and object

The public exhibition period is twenty (20) business days and is counted from the day following the publication of the announcement in the Official Gazette of the Province of Ourense, that is, from October 10, 2026.

  • Document consultation: at the municipal offices of the City Council of Viana do Bolo, during public service hours.
  • Submission of allegations: at the General Registry of the Council and through other means provided for in Article 16.4 of Law 39/2015.
  • Preferred object of allegations: the delimitation of the secondary protection strips and the affected plots.

Any interested person may examine the file and formulate the allegations, suggestions, or claims they consider appropriate during this period.

What it implies for plot owners

The Plan identifies the plots included in the secondary protection strips and assigns to the persons responsible for their management the biomass management obligations derived from forest fire prevention regulations. This means that the owners of the affected plots must undertake the cleaning and maintenance tasks established by the technical document.

The delimitation of the strips is precisely one of the points on which the Council accepts allegations, along with the list of affected plots, so owners who believe their lands were improperly included may claim within the deadline.

Processing after public information

Once the exhibition period has ended, the submitted allegations will be reported by the municipal technical and legal services and submitted for consideration by the competent body. Only after this phase can the Plan be provisionally approved by the Plenary of the Corporation, prior to its definitive approval.

The publication of the announcement is made, according to the official text, “for general knowledge and for the appropriate effects,” thereby formally opening the participatory process provided for by law.

The relevance of the news is direct for the residents of Viana do Bolo: the PMPDIF establishes which plots fall within the protection zones and what cleaning obligations their owners assume, with a period of twenty business days to correct or challenge the delimitation before the Plan moves toward its approval by the Plenary.
