Verea approves a 300 euro voucher for birth or adoption

The Verea City Council grants a voucher of €300.00 for birth or adoption to families registered in the municipality. The measure was formalized with the definitive approval of the modification of the regulating ordinance, published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Ourense on September 21, 2026, in section IV. Local Entities, with the official reference R. 2.146. The regulation enters into force on the same day as its publication and applies from then on.

The text was initially approved by the Plenary of the Verea City Council in the session of July 6, 2026. As no claims were presented during the public exhibition period, the agreement was automatically elevated to definitive, in compliance with the provisions of Article 70.2 of Law 7/1985, regulating the bases of the local regime. The final provision of the ordinance establishes that it will remain in force until its express modification or repeal.

A voucher for basic necessity products

The amount of the aid is fixed: €300.00 delivered via a voucher. Article 5 of the ordinance designates the amount for the purchase of basic necessity and food products, and requires that the expenditure be justified by an invoice from establishments contracted with the Verea City Council.

Who can apply

The mothers and fathers of girls and boys who have their first registration in the Verea City Council may be beneficiaries. The requirements are:

• That one of the parents, or the single mother or father, be registered in the council at the time of birth or adoption.
• That the girl or boy born or adopted be registered in the Verea City Council.

Three-month deadline and documentation

The procedure is initiated at the request of the party, within a maximum period of three months from the birth. The application must be accompanied by:

• Photocopy of the DNI of the requesting father or mother.
• Birth certificate of the girl or boy stating the name of the requesting mother or father.
• In the case of adoption, the resolution in which it is agreed.

The resolution corresponds to the mayor, who will grant or deny the aid once the provided documentation has been reviewed; the denial must be reasoned.

Appeals and other municipal aid

Against the agreement of definitive approval, a contentious-administrative appeal may be filed before the Contentious-Administrative Chamber of the High Court of Justice of Galicia, based in A Coruña, within a period of two months counting from the day following publication, according to Article 46 of Law 29/1998, of the contentious-administrative jurisdiction. On the same date, the Verea City Council also published the definitive approval of the ordinance for school supplies aid (R. 2.148), which is managed through vouchers redeemable at a contracted bookstore.

The entry into force of this ordinance makes Verea one of the rural councils in the province that economically support the birth rate with a direct and simply processed grant. For families registered in the municipality, the €300.00 voucher provides immediate relief for the baby’s first expenses, although the three-month deadline from birth requires that the application not be delayed.
