Verea finally approves grants of 300 euros for birth or adoption

The Verea City Council has definitively approved the modification of the Ordinance regulating grants for birth or adoption, which establishes a voucher of €300.00 for the purchase of basic necessities and food. The agreement of the Plenary session on July 6, 2026, became definitive as no claims were filed during the public exhibition period, and it is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Ourense on September 21, 2026, in section IV of Local Entities (reference R. 2.146).

The definitive approval occurs in compliance with the provisions of Article 70.2 of Law 7/1985, of April 2, regulating the bases of the local regime. The ordinance was initially approved by the Plenary in the session of July 6, 2026, and, once the period for allegations ended without claims, it acquired a definitive character. The regulation will enter into force on the day of its publication in the provincial gazette and will apply from that same date, remaining in effect until its express modification or repeal.

A 300 euro voucher for basic necessities

The amount of the grant is set at €300.00, which is materialized in a voucher. The payment is intended exclusively for the purchase of basic necessities and food, and shall be justified by invoices from establishments contracted with the City Council.

According to the text of the ordinance, the object of the regulation is to regulate the conditions and the procedure for the granting of these grants in the municipality. The modification maintains the scheme of direct aid linked to consumption in local businesses.

Requirements and registration

The mothers and fathers of girls and boys who have their primary registration (empadronamiento) in the Verea City Council may be beneficiaries. The requirements are:

• That one of the parents, or the single mother or father, be registered in the municipality at the time of birth or adoption.
• That the born or adopted girl or boy be registered in the Verea City Council.

Procedure, deadlines, and resolution

The procedure is initiated at the request of the party, within a maximum period of three months from the birth, and requires the following documentation:

• Photocopy of the DNI of the requesting father or mother.
• Birth certificate of the girl or boy stating the name of the requesting mother or father; in the case of adoption, the resolution in which it was agreed.

Once the documentation has been reviewed, the mayor will grant or deny the aid, in the latter case through a reasoned resolution.

Appeals and entry into force

An administrative-litigation appeal may be filed against the definitive approval agreement before the Administrative Litigation Chamber of the High Court of Justice of Galicia, based in A Coruña, within a period of two months counting from the day following the publication of the announcement. The period is adjusted to Article 46 of Law 29/1998, of July 13, of the administrative-litigation jurisdiction.

The entry into force of the ordinance provides stable legal coverage for a direct grant of €300.00 per birth or adoption in the Municipality of Verea, conditional upon the registration (empadronamiento) of the family and the minor in the municipality. The measure is reinforced in the same plenary session that approved the ordinance for school supplies grants, also published in the bulletin of September 21, 2026, and is part of the municipal policies to support birth rates and work-life balance.
