Tuineje publishes the provisional list for two positions of Local Police Officer

The Tuineje City Council (Fuerteventura) has published the provisional list of admitted and excluded candidates for the selection process for the provision of two positions of Officer of the Local Police Corps, intended for civil servants of the council itself through the internal promotion shift. The resolution, dated 12 August 2026, appears in Official Bulletin of the Province of Las Palmas number 98, of 17 August 2026, with administrative reference 1716493.

This is a mayor’s office resolution that formalises a phase of the selection process already underway since spring, and which directly affects the security staff of the southernmost municipality on the island of Fuerteventura, which has a registered population of over 14,000 inhabitants and an extensive territory that includes several coastal and inland population centres.

Origin and regulatory basis

The two positions are classified in Group C, Subgroup C1, belonging to the scale of the Special Administration, Subscale of Special Services, Local Police class, Officer employment. The selection system chosen is the competitive examination, reserved for the internal promotion shift among career civil servants of the Tuineje council.

The call was approved by Mayor’s Office Resolution number 356/2026, of 12 March 2026, in File number 757/2026. Said call was published in full in the Official Bulletin of the Province of Las Palmas number 40, of 3 April 2026, and simultaneously in the Official Bulletin of the Canary Islands number 69, of 10 April 2026.

The positions are part of the Public Employment Offer of the Tuineje City Council for the year 2025, which was approved by Mayor’s Office Resolution number 2349/2025, of 4 September 2025, and published in BOP Las Palmas number 109, of 10 September 2025.

Content of the resolution

The administrative act contains, as its main step, the approval of the provisional list of persons admitted and excluded from the selection process. The resolution includes the following sections:

• FIRST: Approval of the provisional list of admitted and excluded candidates for the selection process for the provision of the two positions.
• SECOND: Granting of a period of ten business days to excluded and omitted persons to correct defects or allege the omission, counted from the day following publication in the BOP Las Palmas, in accordance with Base Seven of the regulatory bases of the call.

Right of appeal

The publication of this provisional list opens a claims period that is decisive for the final composition of the body of applicants. Excluded civil servants —for not meeting any of the requirements set out in the bases— or those who consider themselves omitted must act within the established period:

• Deadline: ten business days from August 18, 2026 (the day after the publication of the BOP).
• Eligible parties: persons excluded from and omitted from the list.
• Legal basis: Base Seven of the regulatory bases of the call.
• Content of the appeal: correction of documentary defects or allegation of omission.

Once this period has ended without claims —or once any claims submitted have been resolved— the final list of admitted and excluded candidates would be approved, prior to the convening of the assessment board and the setting of dates for the competitive-examination tests.

Impact on the municipality

The provision of these two positions for Local Police Officer responds to a need to reinforce security in a municipality with a large surface area, including towns such as Tuineje, Gran Tarajal and Las Playitas. Internal promotion also constitutes a career development mechanism for personnel already integrated into the local police force, encouraging the retention of qualified officers.

The selection process is framed within the policy of normalizing the staffing of local security forces in the Canary Island municipalities, where filling vacant positions has in recent years been one of the main challenges for island administrations.
