Undersecretariat of Education updates teacher brackets and orders salary recalculations

The Undersecretariat of Education updated the list of education professionals contained in exempt resolution No. 8,311 of 2025, and ordered the corresponding salary readjustments for the levels of the Teacher Professional Development System. The measure was formalized in exempt resolution No. 5,098, dated August 14, 2026, signed by the Undersecretary of Education, Daniel Rodríguez Morales, and published in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Chile No. 44,534, on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, section II (Particular Norms), with reference CVE 2857234.

The regulation is issued within the framework of Law No. 20,903, which created the Teacher Professional Development System, applicable to education professionals in establishments governed by Decree with Force of Law No. 2 of 1998, and to those holding management and technical-pedagogical positions in municipal Educational Administration Departments. The system provides for progression through levels—initial, early, advanced, expert I, and expert II—which are accessed through specific and pedagogical knowledge evaluation instruments and the portfolio, regulated in article 19 K of the Teacher Statute.

Reasons for the update

The Center for Pedagogical Improvement, Experimentation and Research (CPEIP) requested to modify the list of exempt resolution No. 8,311 of 2025, for various reasons affecting the assignment of levels:

• 26 professionals must be assigned to a higher level due to the update of their professional experience (2024 and 2025 bienniums) and by assimilation to the advanced level.
• 12 professionals must be reassigned because their levels from previous processes were higher than those of the 2024 process, pursuant to article 19 F of the Teacher Statute, which prevents moving backward in levels.
• 26 professionals are incorporated due to a CPEIP summons error in the 2023 process, which affected 162 teachers summoned prematurely.
• 5 professionals whose 2024 portfolio results could not be validated due to technical failures in the original recordings.
• 3 professionals with valid results from instruments taken in 2022 and the portfolio in 2024.
• 1 professional whose motion for reconsideration was granted through exempt resolution No. 9,960 of 2025.
• 1 professional whose selection information for the portfolio instrument was modified.

Readjustments and salary effects

The second article of the resolution orders the execution of the corresponding readjustments considering the new level assigned to the teachers identified in the list. For this purpose, the prescription rules of article 510 of the Labor Code will be applied, pursuant to article 71 of Decree with Force of Law No. 1 of 1996, of the Ministry of Education.

The updated payroll is contained in the file with an advanced electronic signature named “Modificar18_Reconocimiento2024_20260312_Firmada”, which is understood to be an integral part of the administrative act and is safeguarded in accordance with Law No. 19,628, on the protection of private life.

Communication to teachers

The fifth article provides that, on the business day following the publication in the Official Gazette, each education professional shall be individually notified, via the website portaldocente.mineduc.cl, of the assigned level and the recognized years of professional experience expressed in bienniums. In all matters not modified, exempt resolution No. 8,311 of 2025 remains in effect.

The measure corrects and updates the situation of dozens of teachers whose levels did not reflect their experience or results, with direct effects on their salary allowances. For education professionals, the resolution implies the review of their level and, where applicable, the retroactive payment of differences, which reinforces the guarantee of not regressing in level and of recognizing accredited experience.
