Sober announces a vacancy for a librarian via competitive examination

The Sober City Council announces a vacancy for a librarian, as substitute labor personnel, which will be filled through a competitive examination system (concurso-oposición). The call, processed under file 666/2026, is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Lugo number 204, dated September 7, 2026, and is signed by the mayor, Luis Fernández Guitián.

The position, professional category A2, is assigned to the Municipal Library and is temporary for substitution until the selection process for a new worker for the Council is completed. The process is governed by Royal Legislative Decree 2/2015, of October 23, approving the Revised Text of the Workers’ Statute, and by Law 2/2015, of April 29, on Public Employment in Galicia.

Position Characteristics

The announced position offers a part-time schedule and remuneration fixed in the bases:

• Gross remuneration of €1,343.48/month in 14 annual payments.
• Schedule: Mondays from 16:00 to 20:00; Tuesday to Friday from 11:00 to 13:00 and from 16:00 to 20:00; Saturdays from 11:00 to 13:00.
• Functions: assistance to users of the library service, placement and organization of collections, registration of copies in bibliographic databases, loan and return service, issuance of cards, and sociocultural animation and reading promotion campaigns.

Requirements and Submission of Applications

To participate in the process, it is necessary to meet, among others, the following requirements:

• Possess a university degree in the humanities or social and legal sciences.
• Accredit, where applicable, the CELGA 4 level of knowledge of the Galician language or equivalent.
• Be at least sixteen years old and not exceed the maximum compulsory retirement age.

Applications, using the official model in Annex I, shall be submitted at the General Electronic Registry of the Council or at any of the places provided for in article 16.4 of Law 39/2015, of October 1, on the Common Administrative Procedure. The deadline is ten business days counting from the day following the publication of the announcement in the Official Gazette of Galicia (DOG).

Selection Process and Job Bank

The selection system combines an examination phase, valued at 60 points, and a merit competition phase, valued at 40 points:

• Examination phase: a multiple-choice test of 40 questions (plus 5 reserve questions), with three alternative answers, where each correct answer adds 1 point, each error subtracts 0.5, and unanswered questions are worth 0; a minimum of 20 points must be obtained. This is completed with a written practical case regarding the functions of the position.
• Competition phase: training related to the position, up to a maximum of 10 points, and experience in librarian functions in Public Administration, up to 30 points.

Following the selection, a job pool will be established with a maximum validity of 5 years, which will be permanently published on the municipal electronic office for future temporary hires.

The call and its bases, which exhaust the administrative route, may be challenged before the Social Jurisdiction, with a claim within two months before the Social Court of Lugo. The position is of interest both to library professionals and to the citizens of Sober, who will see the continuity of an essential cultural and reading service in the municipality guaranteed.
