Santiago nomea quince policías locais de carreira e reforza a seguridade cidadá

The mayor of Santiago de Compostela, Goretti Sanmartín Rei, signed on October 20, 2026, resolution 2026/12193, appointing fifteen new officers of the municipality’s Local Police as career civil servants. The appointment is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of A Coruña (BOP) no. 204, dated October 26, 2026, in the Local Administration section, under announcement number 2026/6864.

The fifteen officers are classified within the Special Administration scale, special services subscale, local police class, basic scale, police category, group C, classification subgroup C1, with level 18. The resolution grants the status of career civil servant “with economic and administrative effects from the date of taking office,” such that the seniority and remuneration of each officer are counted from the day they effectively take possession of their post.

The incorporation takes place in positions already provided for in the 2026 Staffing Table (RPT) of the Santiago de Compostela City Council, approved by the Local Government Board on July 22, 2026, and republished, after correction of errors, in BOP no. 157, dated August 19, 2026. In that list, the police positions appear in the area of Mobility and Citizen Security, Citizen Coexistence service, full-time, with an annual remuneration of 15,975.88 euros per position. In the same field, the Galician Academy of Public Security called for three Local Police inspector positions for Santiago in October through the internal promotion system (BOP no. 189, dated October 2, 2026).

Fifteen positions in the basic scale

The resolution details, one by one, the appointed persons and the position code they occupy, all under the prefix A15.SGC.00.G:

  • Brais Rodríguez Bouzas — A15.SGC.00.G.139
  • Carolina Montero López — A15.SGC.00.G.141
  • Daniel Oliveira da Graça Varela — A15.SGC.00.G.143
  • César Otero Pereira — A15.SGC.00.G.144
  • Óscar Paz Lueiro — A15.SGC.00.G.159
  • Enrique Pérez Álvarez — A15.SGC.00.G.165
  • Pablo García Buján — A15.SGC.00.G.180

The announcement publishes the identity documents partially protected, in accordance with data protection regulations, meaning only the last four digits of each DNI are disclosed.

Administrative and remunerative effects

The appointment consolidates the position as permanent and closes the selection process for these fifteen people, who cease to have any temporary link with the Santiago de Compostela City Council. Membership in subgroup C1 and level 18 determine the professional and remunerative framework within the municipal structure, with a reference annual remuneration of 15,975.88 euros per position according to the current list of positions.

The resolution exhausts the administrative route, which enables interested parties to go directly to the contentious-administrative jurisdiction if they consider that the act causes them harm.

Deadlines for appeal

The text published in the bulletin lists the available appeals against the appointment:

  • Appeal for reversal (recurso de reposición), optional, before the municipal body that issued the act, within one month from the day following the notification, in accordance with articles 123 and 124 of Law 39/2015.
  • Contentious-administrative appeal before the Contentious-Administrative Court of Santiago de Compostela, within two months from the day following the notification of the express rejection of the reversal.
  • If the rejection is presumed, the deadline for the contentious-administrative appeal is six months, according to article 46 of Law 29/1998, regulating the contentious-administrative jurisdiction.

The filing of a reversal appeal prevents going to the contentious court until the former is resolved, either expressly or by presumption.

The publication of these fifteen appointments reinforces the council’s security personnel with a complete batch of already trained agents, who now cover structural positions of the basic scale. For the citizens, the immediate effect is the consolidation of personnel in the Compostelan Local Police, with a workforce that gains legal stability and operational capacity in positions that until now were covered provisionally or were vacant.
