Santa Pola admits 590 applicants for 15 administrative assistant positions
Por FactBox Admin

The Santa Pola City Council has approved the provisional list of admitted and excluded applicants to fill 15 administrative assistant positions in General Administration through the open competition system. The resolution is contained in Mayoral Decree No. 2026-2788, dated October 22, 2026, and is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Alicante number 211, dated November 5, 2026, under reference 8190. The list grants a period of ten business days for interested parties to correct defects or submit appeals.
A process with nearly a thousand applicants
The positions correspond to the council’s permanent civil service staff and are called in accordance with the Specific Bases of the selection process, which establish the open competition as the system of access. The published list shows 590 admitted applicants, while the list of excluded applicants reaches 363 names, meaning nearly a thousand people have applied for the call.
The issuing body is the Mayor’s Office, which signed the edict on October 23, 2026, through the mayor-president, María Loreto Serrano Pomares. The decree reminds applicants that appearing on the list of admitted candidates does not prejudge the recognition of the possession of the requirements: if it appears from the documentation provided that any requirement is not met, the applicant will forfeit all rights derived from their participation.
The nine reasons for exclusion
The list of excluded applicants details, next to each name, the specific reason for the provisional rejection. The causes listed in the edict are:
- Failure to state in the application that all and every one of the capacity requirements demanded in the Bases are met.
- Failure to prove nationality status.
- Failure to present the degree on both sides, the official supplementary transcript of records, or the receipt of the degree fee deposit.
- Failure to sufficiently prove payment of the selection process fees, with the obligation to verify documentation and attach proof.
- Failure to sufficiently prove long-term unemployed status, for which an updated work history report is required.
- Submitting an application that does not conform to the standardized model published on the municipal website.
- Attaching an expired, illegible, or incomplete DNI or NIE.
- Failure to prove exemption from fee payment because it is not contemplated in Article 7 of the Regulatory Ordinance of Examination Fees, in the case of single-parent families.
- Failure to provide the individual large family certificate.
Ten business days to correct errors
The Sixth Base of the process, relating to the admission of applicants, grants a period of ten business days from the day following the publication of the provisional list in the Official Provincial Gazette to correct defects or submit allegations, in accordance with Law 39/2015, of October 1, on the Common Administrative Procedure of Public Administrations.
Once this period has elapsed without a claim, the lists shall be considered final, and the Mayor’s Office will resolve the claims submitted. The resolution approving the final lists will determine the Technical Selection Body, as well as the location, date, and time of the first exercise. Factual errors, on the other hand, may be corrected at any time, either ex officio or at the request of the interested party.
The list is published in the BOP and is also displayed on the municipal website, in the Public Employment Section, where successive announcements of the process will be posted.
Impact for candidates
The call places Santa Pola among the selection processes with the highest attendance in the province: 590 admitted for 15 positions represent nearly forty candidates per post. For those excluded, the correction period is the last opportunity to keep their candidacy alive before the list becomes final; therefore, it is advisable to carefully review the reason stated in the edict and provide the required documentation within the deadline.
