Santa Olaja de Eslonza approves the cemetery service fee

Por FactBox Admin

The Neighborhood Council of Santa Olaja de Eslonza has provisionally approved the tax ordinance establishing the fee for the provision of the local public cemetery service in the town. The agreement was adopted in a session of the Neighborhood Council held on August 29, 2026, and its announcement is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of León, number 167, dated September 2, 2026, with the official reference BOP-LE-2026-167023.

This is a new local tax that will levy the provision of municipal funeral services, which until now had not been regulated by a specific fee in this minor local entity. The full text of the ordinance is displayed on the notice board of the Minor Local Entity for the knowledge of the residents.

A new tax for funeral services

The ordinance is processed under Article 17.1 of Royal Legislative Decree 2/2004, of March 5, which approves the Recast Text of the Law Regulating Local Treasuries. Upon its entry into force, the use and provision of services at the public cemetery of Santa Olaja de Eslonza will be subject to the payment of the corresponding fee.

The provisional agreement, along with the full text of the ordinance, has been made public on the notice board of the minor local entity, as required by local government regulations for this type of tax.

30-day period for allegations

From the day following the publication of the announcement in the BOP of León, interested parties will have a period of 30 business days to examine the file and submit any claims they deem appropriate to the Neighborhood Council. During this period, residents may:

  • Consult the file and the full text of the ordinance on the notice board of the Minor Local Entity.
  • Submit in writing any claims, suggestions, or observations they consider appropriate to the Neighborhood Council.

Automatic approval if no claims are filed

Once the public exhibition period has ended, if no claims have been submitted, the provisional agreement will be understood as definitively adopted. In that case, the tax ordinance regulating the fee will be automatically approved, without the need to adopt a new agreement.

The announcement was signed in Santa Olaja de Eslonza on September 1, 2026, by the Village Mayor, Emilio García Fernández.

The new fee will represent a significant change for the residents of Santa Olaja de Eslonza, who, from its entry into force, must pay the tax for the use of the local public cemetery. The provisional processing now opens the window for citizen participation so that those affected can file allegations before the ordinance is definitively approved.
