The Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council has published in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands number 172, dated August 27, 2026, the modification of the specific rules governing the call for the provision, via the internal promotion track and through a competitive examination system, of nine Officer positions within the Local Police Corps, belonging to the Special Administration Scale, Special Services Subscale, Local Police Class, Group C, Subgroup C1. The decision, adopted by Decree on August 4, 2026, corrects material errors detected in the rules approved on May 21, 2026.
The correction is processed under file 2/2026/PROSEL and was prompted by observations made by the General Directorate of Security of the Government of the Canary Islands. The original rules had been published in the Official Gazette of the Province no. 70, dated June 12, 2026, and in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands no. 123, dated June 22, 2026. The rectification is supported by Article 109.2 of Law 39/2015, of October 1, on the Common Administrative Procedure, which allows for the correction of material, factual, or arithmetic errors in administrative acts at any time.
Corrections introduced
Decree CDRHPRE-2026/1077, of May 21, 2026, is corrected in three specific points:
- Third rule, seventh section (accreditation of merits): it is specified that training and professional development courses must cover subjects related to the functions inherent to the employment position subject to the call.
- Eighth rule, section 8.6.b) (remuneration for trainees): the professional classification is corrected, as it was identified as Group A, Subgroup A2, when it corresponds to Group C, Subgroup C1 of the advertised positions.
- Ninth rule (oath or promise): the reference to the position is rectified, so that in the act of adherence to the Spanish Constitution, reference is made to the position of Officer and not that of Sub-inspector.
Positions and requirements
The nine positions are included in the Public Employment Offer for 2025, approved by the City Government Board on December 9, 2025, and published in the BOP no. 152, dated December 17, 2025. They correspond to the codes:
- 1.64.1, 1.64.9, 1.64.12, 1.64.24, 1.64.29, 1.64.31, 1.64.34, 1.64.37 and 1.64.38.
Participation requirements include holding Spanish nationality, a minimum of two years of seniority as a civil servant in the position of Local Police Officer, possessing a High School (Bachiller) or Technical degree, having no criminal record, and holding class B and A2 driving licenses. The deadline for submitting applications will be twenty business days from the publication of the summary in the Official State Gazette, and the examination fee amounts to 20.40 euros.
Relevance of the process
The call allows Local Police officers from the capital of Tenerife to be promoted through internal promotion to the position of Officer, a key step in the professional career of the force. The correction of errors guarantees the legal certainty of the selection process and prevents applicants from being affected by an incorrect professional classification or merit accreditation criteria, in line with the observations of the competent regional body in security matters.
