Sacyl renews two members of the Burgos clinical committee

The Regional Ministry of Health and Social Welfare of the Junta de Castilla y León has appointed two new physicians as members of the Burgos Clinical Committee of the Health Service of Castilla y León (Sacyl), through Order SAN/877/2026, dated September 6. The provision, signed by Minister Alejandro Vázquez Ramos, is published in the Official Gazette of Castilla y León number 177, dated September 11, 2026, and shall take effect the day following its publication.

These clinical committees are the bodies that intervene in cases of voluntary termination of pregnancy for medical reasons when an extremely serious and incurable disease is detected in the fetus at the time of diagnosis, as established by Organic Law 2/2010, of March 3, on sexual and reproductive health and the voluntary termination of pregnancy.

Renewal of the Burgos Clinical Committee

The order fills two vacancies that arose in the committee of the province of Burgos, which had already been partially renewed through Order SAN/340/2026, dated April 1. With this new appointment, the composition of the body is completed following the departure of two of its members.

• Ms. Henar Sánchez Quirós, appointed as a full member (Specialist in Gynecology / Expert in prenatal diagnosis), replacing Ms. Paula Rozada Rodríguez.
• Ms. María Cristina de Frutos Martínez, appointed as a substitute member (Specialist in Pediatrics), replacing Mr. Gregorio de la Mata Franco.

A multidisciplinary committee

The composition of these bodies is regulated by Royal Decree 825/2010, of June 25, and their operation in Castilla y León is governed by Order SAN/954/2010, of July 2, as amended on successive occasions. Each committee must be composed of a multidisciplinary team consisting of two specialists in gynecology and obstetrics or experts in prenatal diagnosis and one pediatrician.

None of its members may appear in the registry of conscientious objectors to the voluntary termination of pregnancy nor have been part of it in the last three years. The appointment is valid for two years, extendable up to a total maximum of four, provided there is no expression of opposition from the affected physicians.

Regulatory framework and scope

The renewal is based on Law 8/2010, of August 30, on the Organization of the Health System of Castilla y León, and Law 3/2001, of July 3, on the Government and Administration of the Community. The order is issued following the modification carried out by Order SAN/634/2024, of June 20, which renewed the committees upon the expiration of the maximum term of the previous appointment.

Filling these vacancies ensures that the Burgos committee maintains its multidisciplinary composition and can continue to handle the cases assigned to it, under the terms provided for in Articles 5 and 6 of Order SAN/697/2018, of June 18, regarding the Network of Reference Centers and Services in Specialized Care.
