Sabiñánigo suspends acoustic quality objectives for Dance Festival
Por FactBox Admin

Sabiñánigo declares the temporary suspension of noise limits in the municipality to host the Dance Festival. This decision, adopted through Mayoral Decree number 1914/2026, is formalized in BOPH-2026-156014, published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Huesca No. 3706 on Tuesday, August 18, 2026.
The measure is based on Article 17 of Law 7/2010, of November 18, on protection against acoustic pollution in Aragon. This regional regulation allows municipalities to temporarily suspend acoustic quality objectives in cases of celebrations or special events that, due to their nature, exceed the usual sound emission limits.
The procedure initiated by the Sabiñánigo City Council has followed the established legal channels. Previously, the public information notice was published in BOPH No. 135 on July 16, 2026, as well as on the municipal notice board. As no objections were submitted during the public information period, final approval of the suspension was proceeded with.
Duration and scope of the suspension
The suspension of acoustic quality objectives is limited to the festival period:
- Start: August 21, 2026, at 3:00 PM.
- End: August 22, 2026, at 11:59 PM.
- Location: Municipality of Sabiñánigo.
- Reason: Celebration of the Dance Festival.
This measure implies that, during the indicated hours, residents of the municipality will see the noise limits usually established by environmental regulations relaxed to allow the development of festive and cultural activities.
Legal remedies against the resolution
The resolution, signed by the Acting Mayor, Isabel Mañero Yáñez, ends the administrative channel. Therefore, interested parties may appeal it through:
- Optional reconsideration appeal before the Mayor’s Office, within one month from the day following publication.
- Contentious-administrative appeal before the Contentious-Administrative Section of the Court of First Instance of Huesca, within two months.
Publication in the official gazette is the essential requirement for the suspension to produce legal effects and be considered notified to the residents of the municipality.
Relevance for residents
Although it is a temporary measure specific to a festive event, the news is of interest to residents in the areas affected by the festival, as it informs them of the periods during which noise will exceed the levels normally permitted. The Sabiñánigo City Council thus fulfills its obligation to publish these deviations in the Official Gazette of the Province to ensure administrative transparency and general awareness of the regulatory variations temporarily applicable.
