Puente Genil launches a binding official electronic street register
Por FactBox Admin

The Puente Genil City Council has launched, in electronic format, the Official Registry of Streets of the municipality, an official identification instrument for public roads, squares, and urban spaces with an administrative, public, and binding nature. This is done through the decree of the Mayor’s Resolution no. 2026/00005417, of October 16, 2026, processed under file GEX 2026/30328 and published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Córdoba on October 28, 2026, with reference BOP-A-2026-3558. The text enables public consultation of the registry on the municipal electronic office.
The toponymy ordinance as a legal basis
The decree is based on articles 26 and 31 of the Toponymy Regulatory Ordinance, approved and published in BOP no. 80, of April 27, 2026, and is issued by virtue of article 21.1 of Law 7/1985, of April 2, regulating the Bases of the Local Regime. A legal report was previously issued on October 14, 2026, in favor of the implementation of the electronic registry.
The resolution bears the Secure Verification Code C5B0 2A3A DAA2 0BEF 95D7 and can be validated through the City Council’s electronic office. The document is signed by the Deputy Undersecretary on behalf of the General Secretary, María Molina Cantero, in Puente Genil, October 19, 2026, and is made public “for general knowledge.”
Three sections and protection of historical names
The electronic registry is structured into three sections, each with its regulatory basis in the ordinance:
- Section I. General Registry: public roads, squares, and urban spaces of the municipality (articles 26.1-2 and 31).
- Section II. Registry of Historical Names: those included in the Census of Historical Names, with a regime of intangibility (articles 7, 26.3-4, 27, 41-43, and Annex I).
- Section III. Disappeared historical denominations: accredited ancient names of urban roads, of an informative and commemorative nature, linked to the road they designated (articles 13, 44-47, and Annex II).
The denominations in Annex I of the ordinance that designate urban roads shall be registered in Section II with an entry in Section I, as their protection derives from the regulation itself; their files will be marked as “under preparation” until their approval by the Plenary, within a period of eighteen months from the entry into force of the ordinance. The list in Annex III (personalities, institutions, dates, and events) is not integrated into the registry and is maintained as a consultation document in the electronic office.
Management in Urban Planning and initial upload from the Census
Registry management is assigned to the Urban Planning Technical Service, under the direction of the Delegation responsible for Heritage, to maintain coordination with the municipal cartographic base, licenses, and the communications provided for in Article 34 of the ordinance. The nominal designation of those in charge of its management corresponds to the Urban Planning Delegation.
In the initial upload, the urban roads of the current official street directory shall be registered ex officio in Section I, using as a source the list of roads and sections of the Municipal Register (Padrón) validated with the INE. The decree also approves the attached registration form model, which incorporates the minimum content of Articles 31.2, 38.4, and 41.2 and Annex II of the ordinance.
Internal Transfer and Publicity
The resolution is communicated to the Urban Planning Service, the Statistics and Municipal Register unit, and the IT Service. Its publication in the Official Gazette of the Province of Córdoba and its submission to the IT service for insertion into the Transparency Portal are ordered; it is also transferred to the Delegated Councilor for Presidency, Economic Development, Employment, and Heritage for the processing of the corresponding files, and the Plenary will be informed in the next ordinary session.
The registry converts the street directory into an administrative document with binding value, such that any address procedure, urban planning licenses, or municipal cartography must refer to the registered denomination. For residents, the practical effect is that the consultation of the official street name no longer depends on internal lists and becomes available on the electronic office, with reinforced protection for the municipality’s historical names.
