Pancorbo regulates the La Calera via ferrata: three euros and biological closure

The Pancorbo City Council has approved the regulation of the La Calera via ferrata, the use of which will cost 3 euros per person and route. The decision of the Plenary, adopted on July 28, 2026, is published in Boletín Oficial de la Provincia de Burgos number 151, of August 12, 2026, within section III of Local Administration.

The bulletin disseminates two complementary agreements: the provisional approval of the municipal ordinance regulating the use of the via ferrata (BOPBUR-2026-03339) and the regulatory agreement for the conditions and public prices of the service (BOPBUR-2026-03340), both signed by the mayor, Javier Vicente Cadiñanos Gago. In accordance with Article 49 of Law 7/1985, of April 2, regulating the Bases of Local Government, a public information period of 30 business days is opened so that interested parties may submit claims or suggestions; if none are made, the agreement will be considered final.

A public price of three euros per person

The public price is based on articles 41 to 47 and 127 of the consolidated text of the Law regulating Local Finances, approved by Royal Legislative Decree 2/2004, of March 5, and covers access, management, maintenance, capacity control and environmental protection of the facility.

• General rate: EUR 3.00 per person and route.
• The obligation to pay arises when making the reservation and must be paid prior to access.
• Prior reservation is mandatory and is processed on the platform www.burgosruralmarket.es.
• The price only includes the right of access: the city council does not provide technical material or personal protective equipment, and each user proceeds at their own risk.

A K3 of 495 metres with five suspension bridges

The La Calera via ferrata is a K3 difficulty route (medium level) that provides access to areas of great scenic and natural interest, and is used by a growing number of people.

• Equipped length of 495 metres, with an elevation gain of +78 metres positive and -54 metres negative.
• Estimated route time: 1 hour and 30 minutes; approach and return of 1 and 5 minutes.
• Five suspension bridges, one of them 55 metres long, balance sections and an optional 47-metre zip line.
• Direct access from Calle Antecubia, at the exit of the urban area towards Miranda de Ebro.

Biological closure from February 1 to July 31

In order to ensure the protection of birds of prey during their breeding and nesting period, access will be totally prohibited between February 1 and July 31, both inclusive, of each year. During this period, no reservations will be accepted, no authorisations will be issued and the public price will not be charged.

• The city council may modify the closure when determined by the competent environmental authority or for biodiversity conservation reasons.
• It may temporarily suspend access for safety, maintenance, or adverse weather conditions, with a refund of the amount paid.
• Failure to comply with the usage rules may result in denial or loss of the right of access, without prejudice to legal responsibilities.

The regulation will provide coverage for a facility that affects individual mountaineers, sports clubs, recreational and tourist groups, and nature tourism in the municipality, who must plan their visits outside the closure period. The agreement will enter into force once its full text is published in the official bulletin and after the legal period has elapsed, and may be appealed through the administrative litigation route before the Administrative Litigation Chamber of the High Court of Justice of Castilla y León, based in Burgos, within a period of two months.
