Call for grants to improve cultural facilities now open

Por FactBox Admin

The Office for Support of Cultural Initiatives has opened the call for grants for improvement works in cultural facilities of associations and foundations in the field of popular and traditional culture, with grants between 5,000 and 800,000 euros. The call is published in the Official Gazette of the Generalitat de Catalunya (DOGC no. 9737, of August 25, 2026) through Resolution CLT/3030/2026, of July 31, which publicizes the Agreement of the Office’s Board of Directors adopted on July 28, 2026.

The Board of Directors, chaired by Josep Maria Carreté Nadal, approved the specific bases (line CLT550), which are integrated into the Strategic Grant Plan of the Department of Culture 2025-2028. The financial endowment is funded by the assets of the intestate estates of brothers Joan and Francesc Anlló Bou, for an amount of 1,134,596.85 euros, which must be allocated preferably to actions in the municipality of their last residence, Sant Feliu de Guíxols, and, subsidiarily, to the region of Baix Empordà.

Objective and beneficiaries

The purpose of the call is to contribute financially, during the 2026-2027 period, to the adaptation of cultural facilities —theaters, auditoriums, multipurpose rooms, athenaeums, cultural centers, and others— managed by foundations and associations with a registered office in Catalonia, in the field of Catalan and Aranese popular and traditional culture.

Foundations and associations that are owners, tenants, usufructuaries, or assignees of the facilities located in Catalonia may apply. Public administrations, federations or confederations of entities, cooperatives, and entities with predominantly public organic participation are excluded.

Eligible actions

Only the following actions are subsidized:

  • Drafting of technical projects related to the planned works and investments.
  • Urgent conservation or restoration works to resolve structural deficiencies.
  • Works to adapt the facility to current safety and accessibility standards.
  • Acoustic insulation works for rehearsal or training rooms.
  • Investments to improve the energy efficiency of the buildings.
  • Investments to improve the connectivity of the facility.
  • Installation of safety nets in the rehearsal premises of colles castelleres.

The construction of new facilities, works in spaces intended for sports practice, bars and catering, religious worship, or activities of a non-cultural nature are excluded.

Amount, payment, and evaluation

The minimum grant is 5,000 euros and the maximum is 800,000 euros, and in no case may it exceed 90% of the total cost of the action. An advance payment of 80% of the granted amount is paid upon granting, and the remaining 20% from the year 2028, once the justifying account has been presented. The works must have been completed before December 31, 2027.

Applications are evaluated up to 12 points, with criteria such as the location of the facility in the municipality or region of the decedents, the severity of the pathologies to be resolved, the relevance of the facility in the municipality, the gender perspective, and the degree of own financing. Beneficiary entities must commit to maintaining the property as a cultural facility for a minimum period of ten years.

Impact

The call represents an opportunity for popular and traditional culture entities throughout Catalonia to rehabilitate and adapt their spaces, with funding reaching up to 800,000 euros per project. The territorial preference for Sant Feliu de Guíxols and the Baix Empordà, derived from the origin of the funds, ensures that part of the resources revert to the municipality and the region that hosted the decedents of the inheritances.
