New advisors of the Educational Administration on the School Council of Extremadura

The Department of Education and Vocational Training of the Regional Government of Extremadura has renewed the representation of the educational Administration on the School Council of Extremadura. Through a resolution by the regional minister, dated August 27, 2026, two councilors are dismissed and their substitutes are appointed, in a move published in the Official Gazette of Extremadura number 172, of September 4, 2026, within section II of Authorities and Personnel (official reference 2026062235).

Dismissals and appointments

The resolution, signed by the regional minister Sandra Victoria Valencia Ramos, agrees to two measures in its operative part:

• To dismiss Felipe Antonio Fernández León and Manuel Rico García as representatives of the educational Administration sector.
• To appoint Eduardo Villaverde Torrecilla and María del Carmen Villamor García as substitutes for the former.

The new councilors will take office before the president of the School Council of Extremadura.

Regulatory framework

The appointment is based on paragraph 1 of article 10 of Law 8/2001, of June 14, which regulates the School Councils of Extremadura, in relation to letter e) of paragraph 2 of article 12 of the same legal text. According to this regulation, the councilors of the body are appointed by the head of the department competent by reason of the subject matter, in this case upon the proposal of the Department of Education and Vocational Training.

Article 11 of the aforementioned law establishes the grounds on which members of the School Council of Extremadura lose their status. Furthermore, paragraph 4 of article 10 provides that, should any vacancy occur for any reason, the new member must be appointed for the remaining term of the person who caused the vacancy.

Competence and procedure

The regional minister acts in use of the powers conferred by paragraph 4 of article 92, in relation to letter k) of article 36 of Law 1/2002, of February 28, of the Government and Administration of the Autonomous Community of Extremadura, as well as by paragraph 2 of article 21 of the Order of November 26, 2003, which approves the Internal Regulations of the School Council of Extremadura.

The resolution is issued in Mérida on August 27, 2026, and enters into force upon its publication in the regional official bulletin.

Relevance of the body

The School Council of Extremadura is the participation body of the educational community in the general programming of education in the region, and the various sectors involved, including the educational Administration, are represented in it. The renewal of its members ensures the continuity of its operation and the representation of the Administration in regional educational policy.
