Titular and substitute justices of the peace of Iznájar appointed

The High Court of Justice of Andalusia, Ceuta and Melilla has appointed Piedad Pavón López as the titular justice of the peace and Juan Ariza Ruiz as the substitute justice of the peace for the municipality of Iznájar (Córdoba), both within the judicial district of Lucena. The appointments are formalized by Agreement of the court’s Governing Chamber, adopted in a session held on July 7, 2026, and are published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Córdoba number 163, dated August 24, 2026.

The designation is disseminated through two edicts from the court’s Government Secretariat, based in Granada, signed on July 13, 2026, by the acting Government Secretary, María Carlota Gómez Blanco. The agreements are registered in the Administration of Justice section of the gazette and remain available to interested parties for their knowledge and eventual challenge.

The appointed officials

The edicts contain two distinct appointments to cover the leadership of the justice of the peace in Iznájar:

• Piedad Pavón López, titular justice of the peace of Iznájar (Córdoba), according to edict BOP-A-2026-2823, page 12617.
• Juan Ariza Ruiz, substitute justice of the peace of Iznájar (Córdoba), according to edict BOP-A-2026-2825, page 12618.

Both positions correspond to the judicial district of Lucena, upon which the municipality of Iznájar depends regarding the administration of justice.

Legal framework and appeals

The appointments are adopted by the Governing Chamber of the High Court of Justice of Andalusia, Ceuta and Melilla, the competent body for filling justice of the peace positions within its jurisdiction. The figure of the justice of the peace, which is non-professional in nature, guarantees the provision of justice services in municipalities that lack their own court.

An administrative appeal (recurso de alzada) may be filed against the agreement before the General Council of the Judiciary within one month, counted from date to date from the notification or from the publication in the official gazette of the corresponding province. The edicts also include the secure verification code (CSV) of each document for electronic verification.

Relevance for the municipality

Filling the titular and substitute positions of the justice of the peace in Iznájar ensures the continuity of judicial care in the municipality, avoiding vacancies that could delay the processing of small claims and civil registry matters.
