Titular and substitute justices of the peace appointed in fifteen municipalities of León
Por FactBox Admin
The Governing Chamber of the High Court of Justice of Castilla y León has appointed titular and substitute justices of the peace in fifteen municipalities of the province of León. The agreement was adopted in Burgos on September 28, 2026, and is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of León number 192, dated October 8, 2026, with the official reference BOP-LE-2026-192014. The appointments are valid for four years.
The appointment complies with the provisions of Article 101 of the Organic Law of the Judiciary and Article 4 of Regulation 3/1995, of June 7, on Justices of the Peace, published in the Official State Gazette on July 13, 1995. The agreement is made public by the Government Secretariat of the high court and bears the signature of María Teresa de Benito Martínez, in Burgos, on September 30, 2026.
The list affects fifteen localities in the province: nine positions correspond to titular justice of the peace and six to substitutes. The same session of the Governing Chamber, held on September 28, 2026, also served to announce vacancies for these positions through the direct designation process, as stated in subsequent publications of the same provincial gazette.

Those appointed must assume their office within twenty calendar days following the publication of their appointment, after taking an oath or making a promise before the presidency of the Court of First Instance of the corresponding judicial district, as applicable.
The official announcement spans two pages of the provincial bulletin and details, for each town, the assigned position and the designated person, so that the complete list remains available to the residents of the affected municipalities.
Administrative appeal before the General Council of the Judiciary
Administrative appeals may be filed against the appointment agreements before the Plenary of the General Council of the Judiciary, within the timeframes, for the reasons, and in the forms established by Article 121 and following of Law 39/2015, of October 1, on the Common Administrative Procedure of Public Administrations.
Justices of the peace are the closest judicial reference in municipalities that do not have a court of first instance, so these appointments guarantee the continuity of service in fifteen Leonese localities, many of them small and far from judicial headquarters. The publication in the official bulletin also sets the starting point of the mandate and opens the channel for interested parties to challenge the designations before the competent body.
