Ng Chad-Son appointed to Singapore senior personnel boards
Por FactBox Admin

Mr Ng Chad-Son has been appointed to Singapore’s Special and Senior Personnel Boards, replacing Prof Tan Chorh Chuan and Mr Melvyn Ong Su Kiat, under the Public Service (Special and Senior Personnel Boards) (Amendment No. 3) Order 2026. The Order was made by the President on the advice of the Prime Minister and is deemed to have come into operation on 1 September 2026. It was first published in the Republic of Singapore Government Gazette on 3 September 2026 as S 584/2026.
Legal basis and scope
The Order is made in exercise of the powers conferred by Article 110D(1) and (2) of the Constitution of the Republic of Singapore, which govern the composition of the Special and Senior Personnel Boards. It amends the Public Service (Special and Senior Personnel Boards) Order 2010 (G.N. No. S 824/2010), the principal instrument that establishes the membership of these boards.
The amendment touches two items in the First Schedule of the 2010 Order, each of which is adjusted in the same way:
- In item 2, the name “Prof Tan Chorh Chuan” is deleted and “Mr Ng Chad-Son” is inserted after “Mr Wong Kang Jet”.
- In item 5, the name “Mr Melvyn Ong Su Kiat” is deleted and “Mr Ng Chad-Son” is inserted after “Mr Wong Kang Jet”.
Administrative detail
The Order was made on 1 September 2026 and signed by Command by Wong Hong Kuan, Secretary to the Cabinet, Singapore. It is the third amendment to the 2010 Order issued in 2026, following a long series of prior amendments recorded in the gazette, the most recent of which were S 191/2026 and S 271/2026.
The changes take effect retrospectively from the date of commencement, meaning the new membership applies from the start of September 2026. The instrument is filed under reference PMO (PSD) H6/4-02 V40 and AG/LEGIS/SL/CONS/2025/7.
Impact
The Special and Senior Personnel Boards are central to the management of Singapore’s senior civil service, advising on appointments and personnel matters for top public-sector posts. The appointment of Mr Ng Chad-Son to both boards signals a renewal of leadership at the highest levels of the public service, and the simultaneous departure of Prof Tan Chorh Chuan and Mr Melvyn Ong Su Kiat marks a generational shift in the bodies that oversee senior public-sector appointments.
